Whoo! I'm going tomorrow. I'm glad he'll be on as Pilate.

The business just doesn't work that way, thismyshow.
They're not flip-flopping. For whatever reason, they want Hewitt (the fact that Hewitt is older and already has a working relationship with MacAnuff are likely factors). Hewitt had prior commitments that only allowed him to do a few performances in La Jolla, and those performances probably cemented the deal. Jeremy is a place-holder, and he'll be in the show. Just not as Pilate.

I saw Superstar in La Jolla this past Thursday. Everything about the production was superb, but my favorite aspect of the show was Kushnier who played Judas.
Wow. I wonder if Jeremy ended up in that slot of mixed blessings known as "most valuable understudy." At least I'll get to see Tom Hewitt for the first time since Urinetown.
Kushnier has also gone on as Jesus recently. It seems like he'll be covering all three roles (Jesus, Judas, and Pilate) on Broadway.

Come on, there have to be at least a couple of token Americans in the cast once it gets to Broadway.

^^ Yes, I'm aware of that. I've known Jeremy and his family for years. I was referring to Tom Hewitt. :)

ah, of course, my bad :)
BTW, I have seen JCS several times (I am sort of connected to the show), and Jeremy was wonderful as Pilate.
