Is there a good website out there where I can get a list of all the theater companies and stages around L.A. area? Or at least a partial list of the better, more well known ones?

THE WILD PARTY at The Hudson Theater is tops on my list.

For sure you should use goldstarevents.com....they have tons of stuff on discount and it will give you a great sense of what's currently out there and what's coming up.

Other good things of course.....Ahmanson Theater, Pantages (BroadwayLA), stuff at the Kodak, the Wilshire Theater....

South Coast Rep, The Colony Theater (Burbank), Actor's Co-op, Renegade Theater Company, the awesome Interact Theater Co., and on and on.
