LA CAGE Cast Album UPDATE - Great News!!!

Thanks in large parts to the efforts by many on this board and Broadway enthusiasts all over the world, our cries for a LA CAGE AUX FOLLES Revival Cast Album are being heard.


I have just received word from a Broadway Cast Album Producer that he has "taken it on and plans to get it done".


The Nederlander Organization has been contacted and wants it to happen just as much as we do, the concern is of course as we all knew, financial support.


Disney , PS Classics, and Razor and Tie are all interested in
distributing and manufacturing as this producer produces. The fact remains, financial help is needed to make it happen.
Outside monies to produce the master aside from the produciton will be the only way it will happen. No record company will totally finance the recording.


With Mr. Mark Petracca, the producer has set up a partnership to
accept monies for the financing of the recording.


Is there any way ANY OF YOU can help???


We need a minium of $250,000 to meet all the union and necessary contractual commitments as deemed by the producers of the the current production.

Maybe set up a petition list of people who will pledge to buy the CD. This way they can see that there really is interest? Us BWW folks try to find ways to get Student Rush tickets to save money....I am not sure we're the bunch to finance a CD...

With the frenzy that original post caused, Im SURE there are some folks who come here that would be willing for such a great cause! PLEASE EMAIL ME!

The orginal petition already stated that over 400 of us supporeted the making of the CD and would LOVE to buy it! Anyone willing to help or donate even just a little would be HIGHLY APPRICIATED!

i can't believe the producers of this revival didn't plan on recording it in the first place. nowadays a revival almost always comes out with a recording. good luck in raising those $250,000.

you guys were very helpful with the petition, I hate acting like a homeless person begging for money, but this cause is worth it. Can you guys help at all? Or have any ideas on how to raise the $$$? Please email me and let me know what you can do.

I'll contribute $16 towards this when it's released.

It's not up to the fans to get the money to put a recording out, it's up to the label.

Man, it amazes me how much time has been wasted on this topic. Now we are being asked to contribute money to the cause?? Amazing. Does this mean we all get ownership shares in the product?

Please do not get me wrong. I would love for this to happen. I think most shows should be recorded. (yeah, me and good ole bryan!)And I don't like to be a negative force here at all.

But I am concerned about the process here. Maybe I am missing something. Please correct me if I am. But we are expected to help finance a $250K project on good faith that it will happen? What happens to our donations if it falls through? There is no contract here or anything official at all...just a bunch of theatre fans banning together and sending ~$20 to someone we don't know on PayPal?

Perhaps I am a little jaded as I have been "taken in" on the internet in the past. As much as I'd be really excited if this recording is made, I think I'll spend my $20 to theatre tickets or cast albums that the record labels out there have financed themselves, as that is their purpose.

More power to ya if you can get it done though... I'll be impressed if you do.

Frankly, this is absurd.

Of course I would like it to be recorded, but the only "contribution" I'll be making is when I buy it. Either at Tower or J&R where I know there'll be a good sale price when it comes out.

After spending some time on the phone with Mr. Sher, the producer of the album, this is a very realistic venture which is in dire need of financial supprot from some special *angels*. If you yourself are not able to help or contribute, but know someone who can - please aleart them to my atention and the already mentioned email address.

Does anyone think Mr Sher will be taking a nice vacation to Tahiti w/ the $? This whole thing wreaks. Not a chance in hades that I'm sending blind money to a paypal account where I am unsure where the $ is going. LaCageAuxFollesFan2 could be going on vacation w/ Mr Sher too for all we know (no offense).
