TheatreDiva:
ALRIGHT ALREADY! We get it! That meany Davis made you cry. It was years ago. It's time to get over it. The way you hang onto this hate must give you massive digestive problems.

Posted: 6/15/05 at 1:21pmCouldn't some ALRIGHT ALREADYs also be a fair response to the thought that poor, poor, innocent Mr. Davis was grossly, horrendously, maliciously, brutally, disgracefully "mistreated" by the big bad producers? Because if we're throwing ALRIGHT ALREADYs around, I'm for that one.

Posted: 6/15/05 at 5:42pmPlain and simply put I think it was a bit early for a revival. The show was a huge success when it opened and ran for several years. I've done the show before and had a complete and total blast doing it. It is an extremely exhausting show to do. I also think a reason that the revival wasn't a runaway hit as before is that the novelty has worn off. In the 80's it was quite the novelty to see 'drag queens' on stage. People would go for the novelty of it and discover that the show has a lot of heart in it as well. Nowadays 'drag queens' are mainstays in the media. They are in movies and television all the time. It has nothing to do with the plot of the show. Hell, it's so much more relevant now then it was when the show first premiered. I also don't like the fact that there are no female Cagelles either. Part of the fun for the audience is to try and figure out who is real and who isn't. Which you never find out until curtain call. Oddly enough, the audience always though I was real which I found to be rather humorous considering I am 6'3". Sure, the dancing was good but I must confess that I am partial to the original since that is what I know and I found the new choreography to be lackluster nest to the original.
