How true is this? I've been reading about this. Rumor has it she is to sing "Defying Gravity" ... Also heard at the Ovations benefit that Liz Callaway might be guest appearing. Didn't they do Saigon together in the original Broadway cast?
Does anybody know if the concert will be recorded for CD or DVD release?
It'd be great to hear ... especially if there is someone WICKED and Liz Callaway ...

yeah... Liz Callaway was the original Ellen on Broadway
If it is true....finally the song will be sung properly. How awesome would it be, wow. Please have it recorded for cd......powers that be. It is the only song from the show that I like, and to have an actress/singer emote it rather than belt it would be fabulous.
they better release the concert in cd / dvd!
Seeing the title of this thread, here is what I imagined:
Curtain opens to reveal 50-member orchestra. The Concert Master enters to a mild smattering of applause and the orchestra tunes up. The Conductor enters to slightly more enthuastic applause and begins the intro.
Lea Salonga enters the stage and the crowd goes wild.
The orchestra plays a 32-bar intro which increases in intensity as Lea takes a deep breath, opens her mouth, and sings...
"ELPHABAAAAAAAAAAAA !!!!!!!"
The orchestra fininshes with a flourish. The conductor motions the musicians to stand and accept their applause. The conductor bows. Then Lea bows to a spontaneous standing ovation. She kisses her hand and waves to the crowd. The curtain falls. Lights up and the audience exits abuzz with excitement.
hahahahaha! dont forget the broom stick!
LOL MisterMatt
I LOVE me some Lea Salonga.....BUT
She so does not have the voice to belt out Defying Gravity. I am sorry, but it's the truth.
And Mister Matt, PRICELESS. :)

WHY? I'm sure she sounds great and all but can't the girl just be a TAD more original?
Hmm. Interesting.
But- SQUEEEE I loves me some Lea! *hugs dvd of her Broadway concert in Manila*
i still think lea has the voice to sing those 'elphaba' songs...but wicked songs or not im sure her carnegie concert will be a good one... i just wish they will produce a cd / dvd of the concert.
I'm new here and just posted a press release of the Carnegie concert here. How did you hear about this? If it's true, that would be awesome since Lea recorded "For Good" with Jen Paz. Infact, the cd is already available. The version has a more contemporary flair but, it is pretty good. I'm watching the concert so, now I am even more excited to see it it does happen. Let us know how you found out. Thanks for sharing!
Jen Paz CD
IF she is singing anything Wicked, it will probably be the aformentioned rendition of "For Good" she did..
Someone posted this on Ebay....2 tickets to Lea's Carnegie concert....row CC. That guy better have a good excuse for not going
Tickets
i read at the other forum at liz will be lea's guest on her concert... hmmmm.. you think theyre gonna sing 'for good' or any other wicked song?
Kudos to Lea. It will be nice to hear an Elphaba that sings without wreaking her voice.
My guess...and I'm psychic...haha...that Lea and her special guest would sing "For Good" since Lea is already familiar with the song. She recorded a contemporary version with Jen Paz. Click on the forward button until it plays the song. CD is good.

damn....... this girl is SO begging to be cast in Wicked, it's not even funny. All her recent interviews scream how she would love to be in Wicked, either role...... blah blah blah. She'd probably even agree to the equity-minimum scale too!!!
Lea honey........we love you. Please come back to Broadway in a NEW Musical that is worthy of your talents
I have to admit, I WOULD go see Wicked again if they cast Lea in it.
But I agree, new show....
So ridiculously jealous of anyone who is going to this concert. I hate living in Florida...now if you excuse me- I'm going to go watch my video of Lea's Broadway Concert...
If Liz Callaway is going to show up as a guest in Lea's concert, then I hope they sing I STILL BELIEVE, as both were in the original NYC company of MISS SAIGON many moons ago.

Is Elphaba a new song or what?
The title of this post confuses me. But i wish i was there to watch Lea.
I hope she sings it too...for discussion's sake only.
