Les Miserables is an epic musical that spans from 1815 to 1832, so it’s fitting that the film adaptation will be equally massive. Variety’s Jeff Sneider has tweeted “Les Miserables is running close to 3 hrs & studio has no plans to cut it down. Guess fans will get the epic they’ve been waiting for.” As a fan, I can only respond, “Indeed!” I’ve been wondering what songs would have to be cut in order to accommodate the runtime, but it looks like most, if not all, of the numbers will make it to the screen intact (I could have lived without “Castle in the Clouds”). Movies with a vast scope deserve their length, and if Universal is willing to let the runtime stand at three hours, then they clearly have faith in the film that director Tom Hooper has delivered. Hopefully, a new trailer will be on the way soon.

The film stars Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Russell Crowe, Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne, and Samantha Barks. Les Miserables opens December 25th. [Update: Universal's publicist Michael Moses tweeted some clarity on this issue: "Time for a little clarity. End credits aren't on yet but the running time of LES MISÉRABLES without them is 2:32."]

Yeah, but if you're gonna write a story about it you may want to spend 40 seconds on google to check the title.
