I've seen theatre around the world and I'm sad to report that this show needs a fresh start from top to bottom. A BIG BORE! The book and music are all very uninspired. How Rice & John could bless this mess is beyond me. Everything down to the sets & lighting were terrible. If this should fly to Broadway, New York would do us a service by stabbing, burning and then leaving it in the sunlight to end it's mundane life. The characters are one dimensional. The story lines boring beyond belief. The direction - well, there seems to be no direction. Third time for this type of vampire musical will NOT be the charm. Save your money buy the dvd.

I saw the show on New Year's Eve. I flew in from LA and my best friend flew in from Chicago. We spent good money on the tickets and on the hotel rooms. We had expected a score on the order of Billy Elliot, Elton John's brilliant last musical. Nothing could have prepared us for this disaster!
I don't know where to begin. The acting was completely over the top and hammy. Carolee was out and her understudy sang off-key. The eroticism of Anne Rice's novel was missing in action. The direction was non-existent. The songs were incredibly MEDIOCRE. The book was interminably long and uninteresting. Unlike most people, however, I thought the video projections worked well...especially when compared to the video game projections of Woman In White.
It is very clear that this show is NOT ready for Broadway. Even if they re-tool it with a new book and a new director, the lousy score will still SINK this show.

It's wacky how people really liked it or really hated it.
Yes it does have it's problems but I for one, loved it.
