Posted: 1/17/06 at 7:29pmHas anyone else seen the commerical for LESTAT? It played last night on NBC and I saw it again a few minutes ago during EXTRA.

I have seen the show, I paid my money (a lot of money for that tix) I didn't watch it on a bootleg, yes I saw the flesh and bone of the people up there working their tails off. But I digress, I will leave this subject as I am bored of the rebuttals anyway, and go back to "wasting my time" with the job of building buildings. We have chat boards for architects as well, ya know."

Posted: 1/18/06 at 1:29amKinda cool, but for a commerical for a musical, it sure didnt showcase much music. I guess they're riding on the fact that Anne Rice is a well known name as is Lestat.

The last performance in SF is January 29th, I believe.
I will say this about the commerical. It does grab your attention. Too bad they aren't using those scenes in the show.

this commerical doesn't really make me want to see the show even though I like Anne Rice's novels and I like Elton John's music.
Just a weird commercial that gives you very little feel for the musical.

^ If you had seen the musical, you would understand why. 
I think also because the creative team is currently making changes by the day, they might be even more hesitant to include scenes from the show. But as you said, it's sort of distancing.

What? When I saw the show, Lestat was at his desk typing away at the computer...

Posted: 1/18/06 at 4:46pmWell, yeah, he is for a few minutes at the beginning and end, and it's implied that he's continuing to write by the endless scrims and voice-overs. But the commercial heavily focuses on Lestat writing at a computer, and shows a lot of projections/scenes that I don't remember being in the show.

GET RID OF THE LAPTOP! IT IS JUST RIDICULOUS!!!
The laptop makes me scream --- cheesey, ridiculous and just plain stupid!!!
I mean a vampire at his laptop, everything is dark excapt for the bright white laptop and it just draws your attention. If the show fails I blame it on the AWFUL commercial. --- I know Dance of the Vampires failed, but at least they had a good commercial!
