LET'S TALK - Leading Actor in a Play at the Tonys

Hoping to organize everyone's thoughts and predictions on this category as it seems to be a polarizing opinion.

In my opinion, I think Mark Strong gave the best performance of the year in A View from the Bridge and deserves to win.

Some people here have said that Tim Pigott-Smith (King Charles III) is the top contender but having seen both of their performances, I think Mark Strong's performance was more impressive.

I also saw Reed Birney in The Humans and thought he gave the best performance he could have but the play itself is not strong enough to showcase a full character's journey, his best part happens almost when it is too late and the end was just confusing, but Reed gave it his all. I would be happy if he got a nomination but don't see him winning.

Are there any others people think should be nominated/win?

For the long shots I would definitely add Bruce Willis, Al Pacino and Forrest Whittaker

and holy crap, I completely forgot that An Act of God is part of this season, although I don't think it will earn any noms.

Saw Blackbird tonight, and although Jeff Daniels gave a great performance, I still don't think it compares to Mark Strong's. I hope the fact the the show has been closed for a couple months doesn't hurt his chances, because he definitely deserves the Tony.
