Posted: 3/6/07 at 10:46amLooks like a great cast for the London mounting of "The Drowsy Chaperone". Anne Rodgers AND Elaine Page - that's two big stars that a great number of my American friends have never seen live (oh, and some guy from Canada named Bob) and one of the talented Strallen Sisters as Janet. Plus I haven't been in the Novello Theatre since it was rebuilt. Looks like fun.

Posted: 3/6/07 at 11:38amThink Logically, the original poster was talking about the london production of Drowsy what other kind of theatre would it be in other then a west end theatre?

Posted: 3/6/07 at 11:44amI would rather see it in London than NYC.

The Novello Theatre is just off Covent Garden on the way to Aldwych. (I was once pretty surprised coming over the bridge from Waterloo to be able to see the Novello. London isn't as spread out as the tube would have you think!)
Ms. Strallen should be an awesome Janet; I saw her in 'Follies In Concert' and she's got the legs for it if nothing else! She was much prettier blonde though. :/
Hoping to see it end of May! Is ticket-booking already open, or are we waiting for the RSC to clear out first?

Good plan. I should probably get another payday or two under my belt before I go crazy with booking. XD

How bad is this? I really want to see this show in London and i tell my parents and they laugh.
"The Drowsy Chaperone" isn't the typical name for a theatre show though, but they have no idea what it is about so thats why im annoyed
.

Posted: 3/6/07 at 2:37pmI'm guessing the Novello is the former Strand Theatre?

SERIOUSLY, the older ladies are the big draw. Anne Rogers is the original Polly Browne from "The Boy Friend" and she replaces Julie Andrews in "My Fair Lady." And Elaine Page is the original "Evita", the original Grizabella in "Cats", Norma Desmond in "Sunset Blvd."
It's like Angela Lansberry and Liza on the same stage.
