I get to pick which show I want to watch at the Pantages Theatre (Hollywood), and I'm deciding on those two. Note that I'm going with people who likes Les Mis, Cats, Phantom, and all that "big commercial shows". So what are your suggestions?

Posted: 2/14/06 at 7:19amWell the "big, commercial show" would be Joseph, which is fun. But I would go with Little Women. The music is gorgeous and supposedly, I haven't seen the tour, the performers are great.

Go see Little Women. Since it is not a spectacle-type show, sit as close as you can.
Practically speaking, there won't be that many more full-scale productions of Little Women for a while.
Joseph on the other hand, is always popping up somewhere like a heat rash.
Don't worry about the other people and their taste. They let you make the pick, so go with it.

Little Women. Joseph will come back ( it always does) . And no offense.. but muscle I believe liked the current touring Evita.. which I just found out.. is still awful.

Posted: 2/14/06 at 12:06pmWell, it is true. Little Women will probably won't tour anymore. But i went to see the tour of Joseph 3 times, and saw Little Women once on Broadway and would NEVER see it again, it was an expensive nap!

Well.. I liked it alot..and again.. I meant no offense.. but you did like the current Evita tour which is awful and has gotten mostly panned everwhere.
re: LIttle Women or Joseph?#11
Posted: 2/14/06 at 12:12pmwell...not like it matters, becuz i never listen to what anyone says before i go to see a show...i used to do it, though, but if you read the threads about the Evita tour, many people such as Rentboy86 and DottieDluscia enjoyed the tour of Evita as much as i did. The reviews on this board were positive. It was just you and a couple of guys that disliked it.

Posted: 2/14/06 at 12:13pmActually that is not true at all. The reviews here were negative. It is just you and a few guys that liked it. And the major reviews in the big citys have been awful.. just awful.

ok, if you say so. Actually i have to admit that my friend, who went with me, hated it. He was the guy who recommended me Millie and Bombay Dreams. He loved these other 2 shows and the hated Evita. So he agrees with you too.

re: LIttle Women or Joseph?#15
Posted: 2/14/06 at 12:30pmI love them both, but if you can only go to one....Little Women. I saw it in San Diego, and it was excellent!
re: LIttle Women or Joseph?#16
Posted: 2/14/06 at 12:33pmI loved Millie. And i loved Joseph as well. But Little Women, well...it was plain boring.

Posted: 2/14/06 at 4:46pmMy vote goes for Joseph, but I like Joseph's lighthearted camp and kitsch. Plus the music is far better!
re: LIttle Women or Joseph?#20
Posted: 2/14/06 at 4:58pmLittle Women. It wasn't as boring as some people say it is...there are a few slow parts, but I enjoyed it. By the way, I feel as if Little Women is one of those mother/daughter type shows and there weren't a lot of men there.

I agree with WOSQ, that Joseph will always come back, but this might be the last chance to see Little Women. I saw Little Women last fall in Sacramento, and it was wonderful. I do think it depends heavily on how good the actress playing Jo is. The one we saw (and I'm sorry I don't remember her name) was incredibly good, and that made the show.
However, if you are the type of person that is really going to stress about whether your friends are enjoying themselves, then you might want to pick Joseph. If their tastes run more to the glitzy shows, then they probably would like the fun and camp of Joseph over the more serious Little Women. So I think I'd recommend taking your friends to Joseph, and go see Little Women on your own.

Posted: 2/14/06 at 6:14pmWithout a doubt I would pick Little Women. I saw the show back in September and it is great. Maureen McGovern is just wonderful to watch on stage and her songs are just fantastic, the whole cast is just great.
