I saw this in the NYTheatreGuide site. Does booking to Feb. 13, 2011 mean the last hurrah for La Cage? I was hoping to see it again during my upcoming trip to NYC in March 2011. Sigh...from RC in Austin, Texas

It doesn't necessarily mean the show is closing. They don't like to offer tickets TOO far in advance in case something does happen. Even steady shows like Wicked and Jersey Boys only sell so long ahead of time (Wicked goes all the way to July 2011, but still...)

Probably, but FYI that date is also Grammar & Hodge's last show even if does continue.
What it means is that they are booking tickets as far as Feb 13...the ends of the current stars contracts.
You are trying to second guess producers who probably do not know yet what the next step for this production will be. Despite good reviews and a couple of Tony Awards the show has not been achieving sensational sales.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
Except for early previews previews and the week after Labor Day, La Cage has been grossing between $500,000-$700,000. It's playing in a 1,000 seat theatre. It's not Wicked or Lion King sized $1 million a week business, but the show is running happily and profitably.
Oh yes, I was not trying to imply it was struggling. But the original LA CAGE sold out the 1700 seat Palace for much of its first two years.
The current revival has done well, just not sensational.
The original production had a larger cast and orchestra and even from my $10 balcony seat (couldn't afford $45 for an orchestra seat) I was properly dazzled. Of course I was 23 then...
