Posted: 6/11/05 at 6:34amI had booked a ticket for La Cage Aux Folles for Aug 2 and now that it was announced that the show will close June 26 I contacted Ticketmaster asking about the refunds. They answered that they haven't received any information from the producers yet that the show would be closing! And I checked, they still are booking tickets for dates beyond June 26th! Does anyone know what this is all about??

NO.But that is a very good sign!
Maybe this was a ploy to get more tickets sold like Gypsy.
That will make me happy.

Posted: 6/11/05 at 7:25amIt's not a good sign at all. It just means that the information hasn't reached Ticketmaster yet. Once it does, they'll take the dates after the 26th off sale and start issuing refunds.

Posted: 6/11/05 at 10:14amI think its a good sign. This is all sounding very GYSPY like to me...and if it comes true, I'd be a happy camper. I'm not holding my breath or anything, but...only weekly grosses and time will tell.

Posted: 6/11/05 at 10:40amIt wouldn't be the first time a show posted a closing notice only to retract it. The Fantastiks did it to some effect. It's kind of like those WE LOST OUR LEASE signs for businesses that somehow manage to 'hang on' for years.

Posted: 6/11/05 at 10:44amEqually, it wouldn't be the first time a show posts a closing notice and the official info takes its time to filter through to Ticketmaster or Telecharge or whoever. It happened with Little Women when that announced it was closing too. And it also happens with just about every show that posts an early closing notice. This is a far more frequent occurrence than a show rescinding its notice. That's happened, what, twice in the last few years?

Posted: 6/11/05 at 10:53amPopcultureboy is right. It's been my experience that Ticketmaster is one of the last people to be contacted when a performance is cancelled or closed. For example, I had tickets to see Cher on her recent never-ending farewell tour and the show was cancelled. I contacted Ticketmaster regarding my refund and they had not been notified yet that the show had been cancelled. It was literally a week or longer after the cancellation notice before Ticketmaster had received cancellation confirmation and began issuing refunds. And one thing that I thought was odd was that they didn't even contact me by letter or email or anything to let me know the refund had been issued. It was just credited back to my credit card.

I called to order La Cage tickets yesterday from ticketmaster, asked for tickets for the 25th of this month and she said "I'm sorry the show closes June 24th" and I said "no...the 26th" and she all she said was "oh...well theyre selling tickets on the site for months ahead and people are calling for tickets in October...for some reason we're always the last to know." It was insane.

Given that I just found this on the $45 tickets thread:
Excellent deal. I put in 2 for Tuesday night and it came up with Center Orchesatra, Row H seats 109 and 110.
I doubt an extension is in the offing somehow.
