I believe at one point it became a sort of open-ended run. I mean, you can't beat a cast like Jane Krakowski, Antonio Banderas (in a role that should have won him a Tony), Laura Benanti, Chita Rivera, Mary Stuart Masterson, et al. The replacement revival wasn't nearly as exciting though.
