I just got back into my Last Five Years craze after a two week hiatus. I was listening to the recording last night and was wondering if the songs match up. For example, when Cathy sings "Still Hurting" in the beginning, is Jamie's "I Could Never Rescue You" what he is feeling at the same time. I think I might be asking this in a confusing way, but hopefully someone will understand. Even if you don't answer my question, feel free to post anything L5Y related; there seems to be an abundance of extraneous and/or superfluous posts, and anything L5Y would be a pleasure to read.
If you look at the last song that Jamie sings, it matches with the time frame of the first song that Cathy sings.

Yes, that's what I thought. Wow, I love L5Y, with a passion. Brilliance!

I liked the cast recording when I first heard it, but didn't "Love" it but then I saw it a couple of months ago and I love it.

It took me awhile to LOVE it, as I do now, but my friend said he didn't gain real appreciation for it, until he saw it. Updated On: 12/7/04 at 09:50 PM

If you like L5Y you'll love Parade! (and Songs for a New World) Anything Jason Robert Brown is associated with, is LOVE!
Love it sooo much... and I love hearing Sherie and Norbs together... DRS is gonna be great.
I think Parade is better than L5Y in my opinion.

I understood it, and I didn't see the show. You just have to realize that Cathy is singing from the end of the relationship to the beginning, while Jamie is singing from the beginning to the end. It's a really interesting concept.

luvW, WTF is that icon supposed to be??

It is so worth it! I didn't exactly understand it at first because it kind of seems like everything is all over the place, but I love the songs. The rhyming is really natural, and you can form your own ideas of what's going on. And it's norbert!

Niiiiiice Andy lol Thanks a lot.
I never saw the production of L5Y, but a friend of mine got me into it. I was bitching to her about problems I was having with my 'on again, off again boyfriend' and she asked 'how long have you known each other?' my reply: 5 years. She said 'get the last five years. you'll love me and hate me for it, but get it anyway.'
I did. And she was right -- I love her and hate her for it lol

I heard a song from it yesterday (don't remember which one, but Sherie was singing), and it was excellent. Usually it takes me a few listens (and few sometimes translates to many lol) to fall for some music, but that song got it. I wish I could remember which one it was...
AndyF... my tears "from If I Own Today" have carried over into this deep pain in my heart for your hurtfull comments.

i'm gonna tell my parents to get it for me as one of my hannukah gifts! fun stuff! i'm excited. my friend is actually directing this in the spring of 2006 at her school and i hope to go see it. i've heard only great things about it, and this guy at school who's obsessed with it keeps telling me that i have to get it and listen to it so that we can discuss and sing it 24/7... lol. yay!

I always think that it takes more than one try to appreciate the truly brilliant shows (you can disagree with me here, but I think L5Y is truly brilliant). It took me a few days to listen to a few of the songs before I really appreciated it. Love it SO much (and plan to sing "Still Hurting" at a musical revue my school is doing).
Also, I'm seeing it this May in NJ.
