This is an interesting question, about who is responsible for the break up. I found it impossible to be sure with any certainty if anyone was really "responsible" for the break up, due mainly to the device of having one character's story being told in reverse chronological order. I got so lost trying to keep track of where she was in time in relation to him that I eventually gave up.

I thought there was a lot to recommend the show, though, except for that ridiculous set (what were those chairs doing stuck to that big sideways wall, anyway?). The cast was good and the songs were excellent.

Lauren Kennedy's acting and singing just seems competant to me. She is by no means bad but she just seems to give you what's on the page. Not only did Sherie bring real star presence to the role, she made more of Cathy than I think is in the script. Sherie's Cathy impressed me as one of the nice, smart, attractive, talented people who come close to achieving what they want personally and professionally but for some strange reason fall just a little short. Sherie's Cathy could be threatened by Jamie's success and by the lack of perfection in their relationship and still be very sympathetic. Sherie had me in tears in Still Waiting. I've never seen Kennedy do work on this level. From people who saw them both, I hear that Kennedy's bland quality made you understand why she didn't achieve the same kind of success as Jaime.
