Jamie was charming, but also incredibly arrogant and self-absorbed. He thought VERY highly of himself and had no sympathy or even much of a concern for Cathy's problems.

And while she's trying desperately to save the marriage ad even admitting that she was just as much at fault as he was, he's thinking about the next time he'll get to be with some twinkie in the city.
