I'm gonna miss him SO MUCH!

i ended up going for the matinee show as well. but the evening performance was just SPECTACULAR!
his MOTN was wonderful...he was crying throughout parts of it. and when he sung "you alone can make my song take flight, help me make the music of the night" he paused for a LONG while to compose himself in between "flight" and "help" and again in "make" and "the"--(if i remember correctly)
and his Final Lair was just amazing!!! Hugh and Sandra was standing on stage together for the longest amount of time during the part where Christine gives back the ring to the Phantom. she kissed it before handing it to him but he didnt just take it right there he stood around just shaking his head...OH! it was so emotional! and finally took it. aww!
at curtain call Sandra came up to make a speech while Hugh was beside her and she broke down quite a few times. and she talked about how wonderful he was and his "movie star good looks behind all that makeup"...lol. he took of his mask for a quick second when she said that and started to stand there like a model.LOL!
oh and during the show especially after Music of the Night, EVERYONE was clapping for the longest amount of time!!!Gosh, the audience was crazy! he was just WONDERFUL.

and i got to meet him after...it was a long long wait at the stage door but he finally came out and i have a couple of pics with him. he was so funny. a couple of people from panarophiles were wearing the "i <3 Hugh" t-shirt. (it says that on the front and "tony awards" stuff on the back--which means it's for Hugh Jackman.) and he was like: "ohhh! I love Hugh Jackman!..I know that shirt!"

Back, he spurred like a madman, shrieking a curse to the sky. With the white road smoking behind him and his rapier brandished high! Blood-red were the spurs i' the golden noon; wine-red was his velvet coat, when they shot him down on the highway, down like a dog on the highway, and he lay in his blood on the highway, with the bunch of lace at his throat... You must remember all the same that at the crux of every game is knowing when it's time to leave the table... And it's important to be artful in your exit. No turning back, you must accept the con is done... It was a ball, it was a blast. And it's a shame it couldn't last. But every chapter has to end, you must agree.

I went to his last eveing performance.
IMHO as well as others I have talked too, Hugh gave one of his best performances last night. Best I think I have seen him do in all the times I have seen him and that says alot. Sandra gave a nice speech about Hugh at the end of the show (she even cried) and all the cast members gave him roses. They had a party for him after the show but many loyal fans waited at the stage door for like and hour and a half for him to come out. He finally did around 12-1215. He was surpried to see how many of us were waiting. He thanked us all, was a complete nice guy and did not turn down 1 picture or autograph from anyone of us (which was alot).
In short Hugh did a fantastic job and is one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. We'll miss him as the phantom but look forward to see him in Lestat. Hopefully he will get that tony! re: Last Hugh Performance for Phantom (10/1)

I saw it too. It was truly wonderful. It had to be one of the most emotional performances of Phantom I have seen live. I will miss him as the phantom, but I am excited for Lestat as well. ^_^ I would have stayed and said good job but I had a train to catch...

It was great meeting so many other fans yesterday. We were such a crazy group.

Hugh's final show was amazing and I am going to try to get some details posted at the site in a day or two. I'm a bit emotionally drained and generally tired.

Sandra's little speech was great...and it was so cute when Hugh started to take off his jacket in a little striptease.

He can out to the stage door after the show and farewell party. He must have been tired and there were so many fans there...but he was as lovely and gracious as he's always been.
