So, do you think there may be any special surprises towards the last couple of months of RENT, regarding the cast or the show will close with the current cast ?

Posted: 1/18/08 at 4:17amWho knows? Some of their contracts will end, and no one knows of those who fall under this category will renew. Who knows if they'll do anything special at the end? Updated On: 1/18/08 at 04:17 AM

Posted: 1/18/08 at 6:43amI have a feeling (though I know no inside info, and am not claiming to) that Pascal and Rapp will come back this spring and close the show. It wouldn't surprise me if Heredia joined them too.

Wow, that would be amazing.
I agree on Heredia. He did win a Tony Award for creating Angel. It would be amazing to have him close out the show as well.

Posted: 1/18/08 at 9:02amI rarely post here and I do not want to start rumors but I happened to see Anthony with Michael Greif on New Years Eve. Not sure if Michael would even have anything to do with that decision or if they are just friends and hanging out together but I did happen to see them together and thought it was sort of odd (unless they are friends of course).

Rapp is asst. directing Greif's production of NEXT TO NORMAL at 2econd Stage.
(As an aside, since the closing notice was posted, I've heard grumblings that once the non-Equity tour closes, an Equity one will be sent out with Rapp/Pascal headlining.)

Rapp will not be joining the cast to close out the show. It is likely he will tour with Pascal, though this has not been officially announced just yet.

Posted: 1/18/08 at 12:56pmIt would be GREAT if some of the OBC would return one last time to send the show with a bang, though I am not keeping my hopes up ! But even if that doesn't happen, the show deserves a great final cast, so I hope they choose the best performers for the job ! The show deserves to end with the same energy and passion on stage, as when it started !

Posted: 1/18/08 at 1:04pmI posted this on one of the other many RENT threads...I think it would be really cool to have as many past cast members, including the originals, that are available sing the final song together. It would be cool to hear all of those cast members sing those final words. Probably would be pretty emotional also. Might also be cool to have a picture of Jonathan projected onstage as it is being sung. Just a thought.

Posted: 1/18/08 at 1:09pmok. Is there any truth at all behind the A&A touring rumor? Did it start from an actual source or did someone just type it on this board and suddenly it was a possibility? I can just see that getting really out of hand without reason. So how did it start?

When Aida closed and he came back he said, "If Rent closes, I'll probally come back. I just hope it's not soon."

God can you imagine being a part of the last cast? I would feel so much pressure to make it so amazing, knowing what it means to so many people (like myself).
If they were to project Jonathan's picture, I think everyone in the theatre would cry even more than they're going to already.

Posted: 1/18/08 at 3:04pmI think it would be hard to have an ideal cast at this point, but especially hard for the final performances, which will have so much expected of them, from all the long-time RENT fans pouring in.

Well, Harley and Declan's contracts only go through March, so A&A returning is not out of the question, but I kinda doubt it. Although... I don't know. All this speculation is killing me. IF that happened it would be perfect, since I'm seeing the show in April. :)
Here's hoping for the A&A RENT tour!

"Too bad the current cast is less than ideal."
I wouldn't worry. Even if Pascal and Rapp don't return, they'll get actors a little more exciting than the two current male leads. That much I am certain of.

Posted: 1/18/08 at 5:26pmI'm seeing it on April, too. Third time for me and first for my pal and I sooo want him to see a great cast, to fully understand the power and emotion of the show. In any case, I am getting tickets towards the end of our trip (mid-April) so I do hope we will see the final cast, whichever it is !

I've heard something from a friend who is a casting director that John Gallagher, Jr. recently tried out.
It was for Mark, and I believe he will be starting in March.

Posted: 1/18/08 at 9:45pmI'm sorry, but JGalls seems unlikely. Why would the producers of RENT who love recycling even more than Al Gore, bring in a completely new cast member 3 months before the show ends? Let alone one who looks 10 years younger than everybody in the cast...

Hey, it happened with Les Miz (the first go around): Max Von Essen.
