I am going to be in NYC August 27th-31st and would like to see Wicked and Young Frankenstein. I know the Wicked lottery always has 200+ people in the lottery , most of which I'm sure have seen the show 100+ times. Anyway, how would the numbers be for late August? Kids back in school for the most part yadda yadda yadda. Any help would be appreciated. Below is my schedule of shows for the interested:
Wed 27th: Wicked or Young Frankenstein
Thurs 28th: [title of show] been telling nine people since before the Vineyard run so this is a dream come true to finally see these guys in B'way.
Fri 29th: Spring Awakening! Big fan of "Weeds" so Hunter Parrish is a plus!
Sat 30th (afternoon): 39 Steps or August Osage County
Sat 30th (night) Boeing Boeing

Spring Awakening has rush, not lotto.
YF can be relatively easy to win, from what I have heard.

thanks for the info on SA. I knew it didn't have a lottery. Just Student and Digital Rush. I already have an onstage for it anyway. Heard those are hard to come by so yay me I guess. lol
Onstage seats aren't that difficult to come by if you order early on. Sometimes they may even have scattered singles within a couple of weeks of the performance. Onstage is fun, though, even though you see the backs of the cast sometime. You really more energy from the stage as opposed to sitting in the orchestra. Don't get me wrong, full view orchestra is great, but I love sitting onstage! Have fun.
Wicked lottery also has hundreds of people...you are probably better off with YF.
I think 39 Steps, Boeing-Boeing, and August are also rushes, but I am not sure about how busy those are.
Oftentimes, everyone who enters the YF lottery wins. If that's not the case, they usually offer the lottery losers the chance to purchase tickets (not in the first row- usually front balcony) for the lotto price.

39 steps has the $39 tickets and Boeing Boeing has the $20 box seat rush. I want to see August Osage County even though the Tony winners are gone.
How should the crowds be in a few weeks anyway? I always go in the fall because I love the weather then! Anyone have expereince going this time of year?

DO NOT SIT IN THE $20 BOX SEATS AT BOEING BOEING!
I have been in a *lot* of partial view/ standing room/ etc type seats, and trust when I say that the $20 box in that theatre, in combination with the design of the Boeing stage, is the *worst* combination- don't do it- spend the extra ($15?) and sit in the rear balcony- and this is coming from a balcony snob. :)

It's funny because I was just loking at the seating chart and I thought they were a little too far to the side. LOL! Thanks for the advice!
Yeah, if you sit in those box seats for Boeing Boeing, in addition to a number of other things, you'll miss a hilarious bit involving Christine Baranski and a porthole.
Get the rear balcony seats. The ushers usually let you move down because the balcony is rarely filled. Even if they don't, the view is not bad at all from there.
I think Wicked is crowded no matter what, school seems to have nothing to do with it. And I hear YF is pretty easy.
{TOS} is great and also an easy win. I saw it, I did the lottery and Won one ticket. There were probably about 30 people for a Sunday Matinee.

I bought my ticket to [tos] right after they were announced that they were coming to broadway. I've seriously been telling nine people about [tos] for about two years now! I used a discount code, but I wanted that ticket to be bought and waiting when I arrived in NYC. Third row, but I don't care. It's all about seeing them and then doing the stage door.
I sat in Balcony Row C, center for Boeing, Boeing, paid $36.50 for it and thought the view was just perfect for the show (I bought my ticket about 1.5 hours before show in the last week of July). The balcony seemed to almost hang directly over the mezz and I'd definitely sit in the same seats again. Plus, the show is so funny with great performances! I went on a whim and loved every second.
I did YF lotto way back in Feb and my friend's name was pulled first so we ended up in the front row, but everyone "won" as that is back when I think they started selling leftover balcony seats at lotto price.
[title of show] lotto is fairly easy - I tried in the last week of July for a Sat matinée and everyone there got a ticket. I was told the crowd for lotto can vary, but it hasn't been huge.
And Wicked was crowded when I last checked (I peeked in while in NYC and walked by the theater at lotto time). However, the one time a friend of mine won was when it was a very crowded and cold Sunday afternoon in March, so luck could be on your side.

I don't know others' experiences with this but I tried to rush August: Osage County last night with a friend and was told, by the box office line person, that you must get there at 10am if you want a ticket, which contradicts what others have said as of late on the boards. So just be aware of that!
I rushed August Osage County last week on a Saturday, got there at 9:25am, and got the last ticket for the 8:00pm show. I would recommend getting there at 9:00am to ensure a seat. Have a great trip!

how much is august rush and where are the seats?
August Rush is $26.50.
I believe that it is the last row of the theatre [Rear Mezz.]
Anyone know what the numbers have been like for the August Osage rush?
Was looking to go Wednesday to increase chances of getting tickets...
