Message: My guess is that the website said this to early. I really dont think she should get this(even though i do think she would be wonderful in it) I think Chait(is that the other understudies name?) should get it i have heard she is just amazing in the role.

Message: According to broadwaystars.com she is taking over... it's just not official yet--so the producers probably called playbill and yelled.
Let me say as someone who has seen Chait--she is not so hot in the role. I haven't seen Laura Bell though so I can't compare.

Message: I don't believe that BroadwayStars.com (in this case) has any more information then Playbill.com has/had. It's very rare that playbill.com pulls a story, so perhaps it's not just a question of waiting or the producers "yelling" at playbill to remove it in this particular case.

That is kind of nuts that they announced Laura Bell and then immediately took it down. Guess they were a little premature.
Hey Catcher, I am interested in your statement about not liking Chait in the role. I wonder when you saw her? When I saw her she hadn't gone on in seven months, so I am wondering if you possibly saw her months ago when she first went on. I'm just suprised that you didn't enjoy her performance. She nailed it when I saw it. Oh, and if you haven't ever seen Laura, as I've said, there was no comparison. I've seen all three, and of course Kristin "owned" Glinda, but between Chiat and Bundy, there really was no comparison. As far as the acting/comedy and the singing, Melissa was MUCH more enjoyable in my opinion. But I understand you never saw Laura, and obviously you are entitled to your own opinion of whomever you saw! I just wonder when you saw the show.

Message: Any "understudy" replacement of Kristin will be TEMPORARY! There is ALWAYS a brief period between headliners where they let the underlings have a shot at it for a few days, i.e. Norbert Butz exiting Wicked with a brief period before Joey Mcyntire (whatever the queens name is) takes over. Don't all you Laura fans start celebrating too soon. She'll be back to waiting in the wings soon enough as it is. Just enjoy the few performances that warble-voiced wannabe has available and then sit your tired arses down and let the Jessica Simpson wannabe pop star take over.

Message: Yeah, she really is. I wonder why so many people are so divided over LBB. And Kristin Chenoweth. I know that people don't understand the difficulty of Glinda vocally because Kristin Chenoweth makes it sound so easy, but still...Why do people hate her so much? And why don't people seem to be so divided over Idina Menzel? I know that the difficulty of her part is more obvious, but still, you'd think that someone that good would have people that hate her out of jealousy or whatever.

Begin conspiracy theory now!
You're a little late, they've been going awhile...
I don't know where you get your info DD but as Craig knows, I've been in L.A. for the past 3 weeks and I happen to know for a fact, that there are other women in the running, who aren't named Jennifer Laura Thompson. So both you and Cindi are wrong thus far. Meanwhile, who really cares who takes over, as far as I'm concerned, the show should board up the second Cheno exits the building after her last show :)

Actually...LBB is still discussing contractual issues but the offer has been made to her. She hasn't yet accepted it, but the ball I guess is in Wicked's court.
And as far as the show closing as soon as Cheno leaves-I find that a little ridiculous considering the shows merits clearly don't rest on the shoulders of the two leads, however talented. Intelligently they have created not only a critic-proof show, but an actor-proof show as well...not to say of course they could cast Brad Oscar as Elphaba, but as the box office will tell you-no sales are lost when Kristen is out.

Jennifer Laura Thompson was the original Hope in Urinetown. And as far as the show itself goes, I agree that it does not necessarily have to rely on its stars for success but they do need to get some damn good replacements.
