Laura Bell would be great in...captivity.
She doesn't really do it for me. I've seen her in Hairspray as Amber as well as stand in for Cheno. To me, she seems like she has an attitude, like, I'm Laura and I'm wonderful.
as far as legally blonde goes...
Cheno is in negociation to do it, might not happen but she's one of the top choices.

I read it a while ago on Kristin's fanclub board (it's official so it's pretty rumor free) she was their top choice and the last I heard was considering it.

Kristin Chenoweth is WAY too old for Legally Blonde. Laura Bell Bundy would make a lot more sense from that point of view.
And as for her attitude, well, both of the roles you mention kind of come with an attitude, so maybe she plays them so well, you're confusing her performance with her real personality? Just a thought.

Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

Yeah that is very true...I think maybe because I saw hairspray first Amber was just such a bitch I formed an opinion of LBB. As far as Cheno playing Elle...I agree she's much older, but she doesn't look much older than 23-25. As long as she looks the part, she could play it.
I don't think it will happen though, Kristin is commited to the L.A. Opera's production of Alice and Wonderland...a show that's pretty much being written for her.
Oh well...whatever happens, either of them could do a good job.

If Cheno does it she'll be forever stuck in the same role. Elle Woods is more or less the same character as Glinda, who uses the baby voice that Sally Brown had....time to grow up. I can't be the only one who thinks this.

I say they should dye Idina's hair blonde and have her star in Legally Blonde. And Kristin is a tiny tiny woman so she could get a costume play Bruiser.

You know, Laura Bell would be a great Elle. I'm sure she's just as ditzy and shallow as her!

Why do you think Laura is ditzy and shallow?

I hope Cheno plays Elle. Of course only if the material is worthy of her enormous talents.

As far as telling Cheno to give up the little girl voice and grow up, why didn't someone tell that to Berndate Peters - 25 years ago???

Both of them should lose the "I'm a helpless little kid, come save me," voice. It gets old.

I heard that Laura Bell Bundy was one of the front runners to play Elle. I think she would do a great job in the role but I feel bad for any poor little dog that has to play Bruiser. On stage it's loud and bright, so I'd think it would be very scary for a little dog... Anyway- yes, Laura Bell Bundy for Elle! Her or Kerry Butler. -Penny

I agree with Laura Bell or Kerry for Elle. I think she's pretty talented. I was impressed when I saw her in Wicked, and I'd be happy for her if she got a role to originate.
Amy Spanger would also be quite good.

Laura is under consideration for the role and no offers have been made to anyone, Cheno, LBB or anyone else. I can say this is from a very reliable source.
Laura Bell, in my opinion, would be perfect in the role.
And in other news, people really need to be careful about making assumptions about actors on boards like this. Making personal comments calling people "ditzy," or "shallow," when you clearly don't know them personally is completely out of line. Can't we make statements about our opinions without personally attacking people we don't know?

Someone's a little touchy here. Just a friend's bad stage door experience, I guess. I'll shut up now with my scathing comments, don't worry.

Yes I'm a little touchy because many people who are personally attacked out here, actually visit pretty regularly...so keeping discussion on a positive constructive level will make this a much nicer place to be.

Dawg, you're exactly right. It's very unfair to make assumptions on what could have been a bad day or by the characters they play. If you choose to make assumptions, please keep them to yourselves. -Penny
