So I was debating either going to NYC in October or next May when more new shows come out, but this just made my decision!!! She is so hott!!!

Just the facto that d'Adree is coming back to Broadway is enough satisfy me. The rest of this? Icing.
As I've said in other threads, Biel got cold feet about spending time away doing a little Broadway show (sarcasm intended of course) instead of making films. She can go back to making such gems as THE A-TEAM instead of appearing in what promises to be the one of the great highlights of the season, Benanti is such a fantastic performer, I couldn't be happier Biel decided to pass on this.
I'm still disappointed Salma Hayek and Mia Maestro weren't a go, but this is still a wonderful cast in every way and shape possible. I can't necessarily imagine Benanti as Candela, but she's so terrific I bet she'll do something great with what I think will be somewhat of a challenge for her. Can't wait!
Does anyone know when the show is scheduled to close? Any chance it'll still be running next year?
According to Lincoln Center's website, the show is scheduled to close January 23rd.

Is anything looking to go into the Belasco after this? I'd assume that would affect whether or not the show extends.
I am sure if the reviews, buzz, and sales are strong enough, it will extend and extend and extend. Like PIAZZA and SOUTH PACIFIC which became open-ended runs.
SO excited for Benanti!
With the amount of Broadway star power attached to this show, it will have to be an absolutely trainwreck to not be around come the Tony Awards.
I really hope so! I don't think I can get to the city before the end of the year, I've been a big fan of this film and of Almodovar for years, and I'd be extremely sad and disappointed if I missed this Event (with a capital E).
A question -- has anyone actually heard any of the tunes penned by Mr. Yazbek for this show?

Nikka Graff Lanazarone has some awfully big everythings to fill in the Rossy de Palma role.
When do tickets officially go on sale? I can't seem to find that... I'm buying them that day!
According to playbill.com tickets go on sale August 30th
I already planned on seeing this, but this makes me want to see it even more.
figures the day I go back to work and have professional development all day is when tickets go on sale.... bah.
This isn't a Lady Gaga concert, I'm sure it won't sell out in 10 minutes.
Some of my favorite performers and one of my favorite directors...I hope this is spectacular.

I'm also super, super excited, but I do wonder how they'll be able to keep this cast together till the Tony's. Thats a lot of big big broadway names in supporting roles to stick around for 9 months.

LETTUCE BLIND OURSELVES BY ANOTHER CAST. GOOD 1 BROADWY. Updated On: 8/5/10 at 03:14 AM
The Nine film is definitely a perfect answer to the question, "With that cast, how can it suck?"
That being said, Rob Marshall is no Bartlett Sher.
This had better be amazing! I'm not a Patti fan, but it's a great role for her and great roles for the rest in the cast. I just hope that the show lives up to it.
Benanti's role is apparently fairly small - a la this being a very ensemble driven production, which apparently is at least partly one of the reasons Biel decided to pass on it.
But good for Benanti for joining the party in a secondary role in a terrific cast.
Has Ivan's son been cast yet?
Biel would have been smart to be in an ensemble-driven show rather than making her Broadway debut as the star. But whatever, it's hard to take this girl seriously as an actress really.
Benanti is having one of the most interesting careers. I love that she went from winning the Tony for featured actress to a Christopher Durang play Off-Broadway to a small Broadway play and now she's taking a non-star role in another LCT production. I think she's making incredibly interesting choices and it makes me respect her a lot.
I was also worried about whether they'd be able to keep this cast together through the Tonys...let's hope so.
Amazing cast? CHECK.
Talented director? CHECK.
Fantastic source material? CHECK.
Now... anyone heard anything of the score? I really think the only way they can go wrong is if the script they are working with is somehow terrible.
I think Biel would probably be better off doing a show where the singing (and maybe dancing) is more important than the acting.
Well...Biel may be better doing a show where no talent is required. Then she might, and I put emphasis on the word "might," succeed.
