Just the facto that d'Adree is coming back to Broadway is enough satisfy me. The rest of this? Icing.
"There's nothing good on. The media hates Christmas. The media loves vampires, though. Maybe they will show a Twilight Christmas." -Danmeg's 10 year old son.
As I've said in other threads, Biel got cold feet about spending time away doing a little Broadway show (sarcasm intended of course) instead of making films. She can go back to making such gems as THE A-TEAM instead of appearing in what promises to be the one of the great highlights of the season, Benanti is such a fantastic performer, I couldn't be happier Biel decided to pass on this. I'm still disappointed Salma Hayek and Mia Maestro weren't a go, but this is still a wonderful cast in every way and shape possible. I can't necessarily imagine Benanti as Candela, but she's so terrific I bet she'll do something great with what I think will be somewhat of a challenge for her. Can't wait! Does anyone know when the show is scheduled to close? Any chance it'll still be running next year?
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"
Is anything looking to go into the Belasco after this? I'd assume that would affect whether or not the show extends.
When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain.

I am sure if the reviews, buzz, and sales are strong enough, it will extend and extend and extend. Like PIAZZA and SOUTH PACIFIC which became open-ended runs.
I really hope so! I don't think I can get to the city before the end of the year, I've been a big fan of this film and of Almodovar for years, and I'd be extremely sad and disappointed if I missed this Event (with a capital E).

This isn't a Lady Gaga concert, I'm sure it won't sell out in 10 minutes.

Some of my favorite performers and one of my favorite directors...I hope this is spectacular.
"We don't value the lily less for not being made of flint and built to last. Life's bounty is in it's flow, later is too late. Where is the song when it's been sung, the dance when it's been danced? It's only we humans who want to own the future too."

I'm also super, super excited, but I do wonder how they'll be able to keep this cast together till the Tony's. Thats a lot of big big broadway names in supporting roles to stick around for 9 months.
This had better be amazing! I'm not a Patti fan, but it's a great role for her and great roles for the rest in the cast. I just hope that the show lives up to it.
Benanti's role is apparently fairly small - a la this being a very ensemble driven production, which apparently is at least partly one of the reasons Biel decided to pass on it.
But good for Benanti for joining the party in a secondary role in a terrific cast.
Has Ivan's son been cast yet? Biel would have been smart to be in an ensemble-driven show rather than making her Broadway debut as the star. But whatever, it's hard to take this girl seriously as an actress really. Benanti is having one of the most interesting careers. I love that she went from winning the Tony for featured actress to a Christopher Durang play Off-Broadway to a small Broadway play and now she's taking a non-star role in another LCT production. I think she's making incredibly interesting choices and it makes me respect her a lot. I was also worried about whether they'd be able to keep this cast together through the Tonys...let's hope so.

I think Biel would probably be better off doing a show where the singing (and maybe dancing) is more important than the acting.
"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter
Well...Biel may be better doing a show where no talent is required. Then she might, and I put emphasis on the word "might," succeed.
