While I'm normally a big proponent of just bumping an old (even only quasi-relevant) thread instead of starting a new one, 50% of the top 6 threads are about Wicked, so attention must be more explicitly paid.
Lauren started in Spamalot tonight.
In a word: Delightful.
Her vocals were up to par, at the very least, and it was nice to see her really let go and have fun with the role.
As much of a fan as I am, I wasn't sure I could see her in the role, but she definitely surprised me. Speaking of surprises, our little Lauren is a redhead. She had a medium brown wig in the first act and in the second act was quite the fabulous redhead; it looked real, but who knows.
She definitely made the role her own, for instance, opting to belt the beginning of the second verse of "Find Your Grail," blasting it out as only LK can.
She really had SO much uninhibited fun with the role, it made me really like a show I'm not insane about.
Sidebar, Simon Russell Beale is ADORABLE. It was his first performance as well and he was really great.
Everyone else was in, all their usual selves. I love Chris Seiber.
The end.

"50% of the top 6 threads are about Wicked" ...that means 3.
Anyway, yes Lauren is freaking adorable. I don't care if her hair was real or wigged, she looked awesome.
I'm not going to lie, I was a little concerned going into the scat section of the Camelot scene. However, Little Miss Lauren had a lot more comic ability than I thought she would and really, she pulled it off without a hitch.
I'd also like to say I think in a week or so once she's settled she's going to be fantastically wonderful. The woman has no fear. She goes for it, and she definitely appeared to be having one hell of a good time.

#3re: Lauren Kennedy in Spamalot
Posted: 12/21/05 at 9:19amWait when did they change them in the first place?
#4re: Lauren Kennedy in Spamalot
Posted: 12/21/05 at 9:46amThey changed them after Sara had won the Tony---they probably changed them back (right?) Thanks for the post---I'm going to see the show again at the end of Feb., and am looking even more forward to it!

Posted: 12/21/05 at 3:13pmThey also changed a bit during "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" but I doubt anyone really noticed it other than people like me who have seen it before. Normally Patsy flips the umbrella and then the knights try to do it and they all mess it up and Patsy says "And they're knights!" Well last night Patsy flipped the umbrella and then instead of the knights following, they pointed at King Arthur (Simon) and he did a little shuffle of his feet and that was it.

That is a great new lyric although it sounds like it would be a tongue twister to sing....lol.
At Sara's last show she sang "I'm going to be replaced by Britney Spears" instead of "I'm constantly replaced by Britney Spears"
A subtle but cute change.

Oh, now I want to see it again. All the little changes in shows is what makes me wish I could see them every night! Haha...
And *I* hate to be annoying as well, but Distinctive Baritone, "dyed" is for hair. "Died" is just...well, dead.
I remember days
Or at least I try
But as years go by
They're sort of haze
And the bluest ink
Isn't really sky
And at times I think
I would gladly die
For a day of sky

I must admit, I had no interest in seeing Spamalot before. And now I do.
Lauren Kennedy is great. I'll definitely have to try to see her.

They have changed this bit SO many times! It was the Knights messing up when I saw it in July, and when I saw it in Sept, the knights didn't do anything with the umbrellas, but Patsy did his flip, and then bounced it open---I asked Michael McGrath about it and he said casey had changed it the day before---seeing hte knights miss all the time got on his nerves. Then when I saw it in december, the umbrella bounce was out, and the knights flipped theirs (and caught them) I can't wait to see how they change it when I go in February!

Posted: 12/22/05 at 10:43amI saw her last night. I thought she was pretty good. Didn't blow me away though. But she just started and I'm sure will improve. She does have a great voice. And she did try and do her own take on a few things which was very cool.

Posted: 12/23/05 at 9:04pmThere are new posters up around the building promoting the new cast. Simon's name is in between David's and Hank's, in a totally different shade of blue. There are new pictures of the three guys, a new group shot, and a picture of Lauren Kennedy as the Lady of the Lake. She's quite pretty.
