A new non-controversial but interesting Benanti interview. Everyone is so concerned that she isn't young enough for Louise.
But it seems that's not what Laurent's wants.
He said to me, "One of the reasons why I cast you is that I don't want an insipid little ingénue." He said, "I want someone who can become Gypsy Rose Lee so that the last scene is truly a battle." He's given me a lot of excellent advice. In the beginning he was like, "Don't try to play young. Just be the character."
