I was there last night too -- brought my mom and my sister, neither of whom had seen it before and both of whom liked it a lot! I thought everyone was in great voice last night: Orfeh, Christian Borle, and everyone in between.
And I do think that CB deserved his nomination. He's playing the "straight man" in a show full of super flashy personalities, and he does it so, so well.
And for the record, I really do wish that certain people would stop posting in defense of one actor, only to turn right around and start insulting everyone else in the show. It got old a long time ago, and from the looks of this thread, I'm not the only one who is sick of it.

I don't apologize and I stand behind the fact that Korenglish was wrong and out of line to SPECULATE that Orfeh smokes and/or was ill. If any of you wish to further insult or be rude to me, take it to pm and I'll be happy to address you there. JJJ, you have alot of nerve and are a big freakin hypocrite. You've practically made a career out of defending Larry O'keefe every chance you get on all and every thread/board there is and have for a really long time so why is *that* acceptable?

um...ASKING and SPECULATING are two different things.
Look, Ruprecht, you're obviously on a crusade, so it's pointless to try and stop you. Go for it.
But what you should also acknowledge is that there are a lot of people who find your tirades unbearable. And since you are anonymous, do you know who that hurts? ORFEH.
That's right, those of us who may like her in the show, or conceivably buy a ticket to see her perform, are involuntarily starting to associate her with her crazy fans. Those of us who liked Christian or Laura Bell or whoever resent that they have to be attacked in order to defend Orfeh's honor. All three of you...you, Al Dente, and Foster Child, have associated such vitriol with Orfeh's name that it's likely to cost her some potential fans.
You're really making her look bad with all of this. But then again, the fewer fans she has, the more important you are, right?

Ruprecht, Al Dente, and Foster Child,
Why do you jump all over anyone who says one negative thing about Orfeh? korenglish was only ASKING if she smoked not saying "She smokes and is a horrible singer and I hate her!!!!!" You're really overreacting. Calm down.

I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

No, I don't believe that Korenglish was wrong to ASK if she smokes. It seems like a fair question, given the deep and earthy quality of her voice, and in response, it deserves a fair answer. Like, for example, "No, she doesn't smoke." Simple as that.
And yes, I certainly do love Larry O'Keefe's work, and I do defend him if I feel the need to do so -- but the reasons that that doesn't make me a hypocrite are:
1. I don't look for insults where there aren't any to be found.
2. I feel that people are entitled to their opinions, where his work is concerned. If people don't like the score to Blonde (or whatever other show), that's their prerogative, and I will post my own opinion without attacking others for theirs.
3. I don't go around insulting other composers, and saying that their work is inferior because OBVIOUSLY nobody will EVER live up to the work that Larry does. Sure, there are plenty of shows out there that I'm not fond of, but I don't go out of my way to post negative things on their threads, or insult other people for liking them.

Orfeh smokes? That's such a shame. Great voice. She's gonna kill it.
I'm gonna go tell all my friends she smokes now and we are going to picket the theatre. Anti-smokers parade, march!

by the way, Ruprecht, even if Korenglish wasnt asking, what is so bad about speculating?
people speculate all the time, but it doesnt mean its negative at all.

I think it has to do with the negative connotation of smoking. But come on, everyone knows smoking is cool!
It's just a message board. Let's not take it too seriously.

aww poor Christian...I agree that his performance wasn't really a stand out, but I think that's due to the character and not his talent- he's such a great performer. I hope he gets to move on to a show where he is actually utilized to the best of his abilities!

It's heartbreaking to learn that someone as talented as Orfeh smokes. I'm afraid I'll have to report this to everyone on the 'People Who Love Everyone On Broadway Except Those Bastards That Smoke' fan community.

Wow I come back to the site that I haven't been on in forever and in less than 12 hours there is another cat fight. I WAS NOT trying to start a rumor or speculate anything. I just asked a simple question. I never said I knew she smoked or didn't smoke. Thank you to everyone who defended me. I didn't say that she sounded awful or anything like that. I thought she sounded terrific, she is a major part of the reason I wanted to see the show in the first place. I was just surprised because she was a little raspier in the first song than I remembered hearing her in Bend and Snap, but I later realized that it was just the way she sounded.
You don't need to jump down my throat. There was nothing bad intended behind my words. I think Orfeh is great and the only thing I regret about her is that I didn't have the guts to ask her to take a picture with me last night because she looked busy.
BTW, yes I was in the front of the lines for the signing. And yes, I loved the show. And yes, I loved Christian and Laura Bell and Orfeh and Kate Shindle especially.

I was the first girl in line, Korenglish- with the huge obnoxious bag that I kept hitting people with. I came straight from class- so I had all of my dance/music stuff with me.

Although it happens, it can be frustrating when a lot of the leads don't stage door. Did they make some kind of announcement, or did Bundy/Rupert/Borle just never appear? Do they usually sign?
"What was the name of that cheese that I like?"
"you can't run away forever...but there's nothing wrong with getting a good head start"
"well I hope and I pray, that maybe someday, you'll walk in the room with my heart"
