Legally Blonde Musical

Posted: 11/16/03 at 7:28pmI know this thread has come up Millions of times, but that was discussing casting. Would it make a good musical. I think it would be great- a very campy, Hairspray-type musical, with catchy songs and a song aimed towards the teens. I think Kristen would be great. I just hope that for the rest of her career, she isn't type casted into dumb, blonde roles. All of Elle's songs would be so cute if they ever did a musical! I think Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman could write some mean songs for a stage version of the movie!

Like you said, it depends on who writes the music and also a big number depends on casting. Kristen Chenoweth would be perfect for Elle Woods- the first person that popped into my head and obviously many others minds as well- but I've also thought of some other canidates for Elle and other roles. Victor Garber can possibly rerprise his film role on the stage since he is trained in musical theater. Nobert Leo Butz would be a perfect boyfriend figure- the guy she ends up with in the end. And I thought of Penny Fuller immediately for the lady professor, and hmm..possibly Felicia Finley for one of her ditzy friends or something. Marissa Janet Winokur would be the cute manicurist, but the jerky boyfriend and Selma Blaire's role, I cant seem to think of anyone. And this is only if the musical version stays true to the movie characters.
I would so pay money to see Legally Blonde the Musical. I love the movies, the play might add up to something. It will either flop terribly or be a success, and surely if they cast someone like Kristen Chenoweth as Elle, no worries no matter what about it flopping.

Posted: 11/16/03 at 9:30pmI think Sutton Foster would make an incredible counterpart to Kristen Chenoweth's Elle- Vivian Kensington. They could give her a song, and she could get nominated and win another Tony.

Not necessarily. I saw video clips of "Popular" and she looks a lot younger than she usually does, and I definitely think she could pull it off.

Posted: 11/16/03 at 9:48pmActually, Elle is a college grad which would put her around 22, which is still alot younger than Chenoweth is. But it's stage, so who cares? Updated On: 11/16/03 at 09:48 PM
