Legally Blonde OBCR Clips!

http://www.sh-k-boom.com/LegallyBlonde.html

available now to listen to and it sounds AMAZING. has anyone pre-ordered on here and got it before the date it comes out and if not the day it does? I want to because it says they're going to ship them out when they get them in in late June. Honestly I can't wait for this CD anymore haha

re: Legally Blonde OBCR Clips!

The entire thing was leaked, also.

The mixing is horrible.

ETA: Were I to have it, I think the mixing would probably be horrible. Stop PMing me.

re: Legally Blonde OBCR Clips!

Why did Laura Bell Bundy sound better when I saw the show? Aren't recordings supposed to sound better?
Strange...
I mean, Denzel Washington? Gun to my head..of course.

re: Legally Blonde OBCR Clips!

i agree, Laura Bell Bundy sounds very strained on this recording. i wonder if a day off before the recording wouldve helped? but yeah, she sounds pretty good, but "so much better" especially sounds off

and the orchestrations sound pretty bad, just...so electronic! even more electronic sounding than they even did seeing it live.

and yes, the recording did leak, but no PMing me, because im not going to send it. i just got it from someone else by chance.

EDIT: by the way, im still going to buy the physical cd so i can like...have it, haha. yes, im a dork...

re: Legally Blonde OBCR Clips!

on the website, Laura Bell Bundy sounds very strained on "So Much Better." You'd think that they'd record that one (since its as close to as own song that she gets) among the earliest so her voice was still powerful. She can really sing that "so much better." (sry...couldn't resist)

EDIT: Thank you b3ta for pointing out my improper grammar in relation to song titles. Proofreading isn't exactly my thing...which is exactly why journalism didn't work out

If you use the shift key, you can make real quotation marks.

re: Legally Blonde OBCR Clips!

I still prefer the San Fransisco orchestrations. These are just irritating. Not as lively and more forced.

re: Legally Blonde OBCR Clips!

I pre-ordered it!! And the mixing sounds fine to me! But where was the soundtrack leaked to? And I will say Laura does sound kind of breathy.

BroomstickBoy - The orchestrations changed?

Jimmy, what are you doing here in the middle of the night? It's almost 9 PM!

re: Legally Blonde OBCR Clips!

If you listen to the whole thing louder, you can tell the orchestrations are kinda messed up. She sounds strained, especially on "Take It Like a Man".

There's a "Tony Voter Rough Mix" that some people have.

Please don't PM me asking for it, either.

re: Legally Blonde OBCR Clips!

I wouldn't be suprised if it wasn't the final mix on the label's website, but that's just me.

Well, for the Broadway transition from out-of-town tryout they obviously re-tooled the orchestrations. I just don't like how they sound now. In SF they sounded more lively and exciting and less polished-processed-pop. They're TOO polished to me.

And Laura's singing is hit or miss. I think she's getting the Idina Menzel syndrome. Vocally inconsistant but when she's on, she is ON. Sometimes she sounds forced, strained, blah blah blah. But other times she's on top of her game.

But on a lighter note, I love how "Ireland" sounds. Gotta love Orfeh!

re: Legally Blonde OBCR Clips!

The leaked recording is probably the "Tony Voter Rough Mix". It is not fully mixed and finished, and was produced with the sole purpose of being sent to Tony voters.

I think for being an unfinished product the recording sounds really great.

re: Legally Blonde OBCR Clips!

oh, so thats why some songs are like 9 minutes long :)

and yeah, i agree- when Laura Bell's voice is good, it is GOOOD. but i just thought on the recording it is kind of...restrained, in a way, on some songs. She stills sounds good though, just not where she can be!

and im obsessed with "What You Want" :)

re: Legally Blonde OBCR Clips!

So, correct me if I'm wrong, but the only musical numbers not on the cast recording will be "Daughter of Delta Nu" and "Omigod You Guys" (Reprise)?
