It's not uncommon for the Muny, or any other high profile summer theatre, to try to cast a show, especially a newer piece, from the Broadway and/or touring companies. With a very tight rehearsal schedule they aim for people who can come in and hit the ground running, so to speak. It saves an incredible amount of valuable time when you can do a quick brush up session on music for your leads, for instance, as opposed to spending the time to teach it cold. And with that creative team I would guess much of the staging and choreography will draw quite heavily on the original work.
I'm not familiar with LEGALLY BLONDE in either the movie or musical incarnations. The local summer theater is doing it next week and my 6 yr old granddaughter wants to see it. She not only sat through but enjoyed there production of WSS recently.
There are some references to shooting Irish men who tire of you in the knees, "holding your head while you hurl" and "in the hot tub every night". But they're just verbal references. I would check out youtube for clips to check it out. But, IMO I don't see anything wrong with it. Especially since she's already been exposed to WSS. With the death and sex that's probably more "objectional" than LB.

We must have different Gods. My God said "do to others what you would have them do to you". Your God seems to have said "My Way or the Highway".
It's less un-family friendly than the film. The kids will love it and it'll be good fun. The show even sells merchandise targeted at younger girls-which says at least something.
I saw it both times on tour when it came through St. Louis, and I saw it at the Muny. I love Lauren Zakrin. The production was very similar to the tour. Nikki Snelson from the broadway cast was in it, and that was very exciting to see! The only thing that set it apart were the sets. They were still good, just downscaled. But only for some scenes. They did bring back the Giant Delta Nu staircase which I was glad to see, and this production used a revolving stage for the What You Want and Harvard Variations scenes. Which was cool. They used it to make the cast look like they were running and to turn the set pieces around. It was awesome. I went on a week night, and it was pretty full. Lauren has always been my favorite Elle, and I'm so glad she got to be a part of the production again.
One production I'm nervous about is The Little Mermaid. I'm anxious, yet scared to see the costumes and sets. I hope they're not too cartoonish. :/
