Legally Blonde is coming through our city next month. We are trying to decide if our kids should see it. They are 4 and 6 years old.

Thanks:

Save your money, don't take them. While your at it don't buy a ticket for yourself.

It's not too inappropriate or anything (though the majority of the jokes will go right over their heads) but it is a little long for kids that age. It's not as flashy or geared toward kids like Lion King or Little Mermaid, they'll probably get bored.

Has either sat through a full length musical before? If so, then go ahead. Any "adult" references are just going to go over their heads. My 7 year old went and loved it. But, she also watched the MTV broadcast quite a number of times. I wouldn't spend the money on the 4 year old - or the 6 year old - unless you knew (1) they would sit and (2) wouldn't fall asleep at intermission because it's past their bedtimes.
We took our then 5 year old to see Cats on Broadway, but first tested her out at a touring production of Beauty and the Beast.

Yes, as long as you are prepared to make sure that they stay quiet or take them out if they're making too much noise.

The show is fun and flashy and perfect for a kid as long as they can sit through it.

Are your kids boys or girls or one of each? I have a 12 year old boy, a 6 year old boy and a 5 year old girl. My girl LOVES LOVES LOVES Legally blonde and has since she was 4. I took her to New York to see the Broadway show and it was a great experience. My 12 year old liked Legally Blonde and enjoyed the music and jokes. My 6 year old son however did not appreciate all the pink and girlie girl parts. Have them view some of the videos on that other "you" site and see if they are interested before forking over the money. As for appropriate.... I didn't feel that there were parts that I needed to cover their ears or eyes during.

While there is nothing really "inappropriate" about Legally Blonde, most young kids don't really have any taste. They often don't know if something is good or bad. Most (not all) think everything is good.

I would save my money and take them to school and community theatre productions for the time being and take myself to the big time.

I recommend it, even if you wind up not taking your kids.

Would you show them the film? The musical is no more inappropriate than the film. Personally, I would not take a child under 6 to the theatre unless it was a show specifically for children, but that's just me. I've had too many restless kids around me and I don't pay those prices to listen to other people's undisciplined children.

I personal would not take a long children that young to a perfessional show or less it was something along the lines of Shrek or Sesame Street Live. They will probably loose interest after a half hour and be squirming in there seats. Annoying you and people around them that paid 50 dollars for a ticket.

I dissagree with everyone saying that young kids will only like shows thats are like disney or some other kid show. I saw Annie Get Your Gun when I was 6 as my first ever Broadway show and fell in love with it and Broadway.
I say you should give it a try with your 6 year old at least. I think you should ask your 4 year old and explain to her what would be going on and show her any youtubes of the songs and see if they like it! Either way YOU should go and have fun!
