Legally Blonde overture?

I was watching a clip of the first San Francisco performance and was surprised that they had a short overture. (I thought it was horrible). I haven't seen the show live, so I wanted to ask, did they keep the overture that leads into "Omigod You Guys?"

Yup, and it was on the Tony Voters version of the OBCR as well.

re: Legally Blonde overture?

I am finally registered here after trying for....oh, say....a year?

I think the "overture" is intended to get rear-ends in the seats. That is all. It has no musical value whatsoever...my opinion.

re: Legally Blonde overture?

It's on the Tony voters CD. It's about 45 seconds. It starts with the "Have you ever been in love?" music that pops up through out the show in different songs and then ends with the slower "Legally Blonde" melody.

I like short overtures! So I think its great. Usually when I go to a show I'm just so anxious to see it and I'm like get on with the show!!

re: Legally Blonde overture?

The Little Mermaid had one of the longest and most unnecessary overtures I've experienced.

exactly what I was think TDavis09. I was so excited to see Gypsy and just wanted to overture to end so the show would start.

re: Legally Blonde overture?

I love the overture for Legally Blonde, even though it is so short. Lawrence has written some lovely melodies for the show. I find one or two rather haunting and it's nice to give the 19 piece orchestra a few moments of attention.
