They announced the creative team, or maybe just the writers, but I can't think right now.
IS it just me, or would AB FAB make an amazing musical?

From what I've heard, the current work-in-progress is apparently amazing.
There was recently a thread about it....I'm too sleepy to look for it now.

Posted: 11/12/04 at 11:15amI believe that Larry O'Keefe (of Batboy fame) is very involved with this project. Given the other projects of his I've seen, I have faith that it's going to be a pretty good deal. He's a funny guy, and comes up with some pretty catchy tunes. Pretty sure Nell Benjamin is co-writing as well, since usually where one is, so is the other. Updated On: 11/12/04 at 11:15 AM

Legally Blonde movie- cute, fluffiness, good for PMS days
Legally Blonde musical-car wreck.
It's not gonna work. I don't think the movie intended to have a big musical number.

Posted: 11/12/04 at 11:19amHave you seen any other O'Keefe/Benjamin creations? I've seen two of their children's literature turned stage productions, and had a wonderful time at both. They can really work some magic.

Posted: 11/12/04 at 11:54amIt's not done. It may work, it may not. How about letting the writers write before we decide from on high what's suitable for musicalization and what isn't?

If it ever is made into a musical, here would be my dream cast:
Elle Woods - LAURA BELL BUNDY
Emmett Richmond - Any brown-haired leading man... Patrick Wilson?
Vivian Kensington - SUTTON FOSTER
Prof. Callahan - ALFRED MOLINA
Paulette Bonafonte - KATHY NAJIMY
Warner Huntington III - JOHN JEFFREY MARTIN
Prof. Stromwell - BLAIR BROWN

Posted: 11/12/04 at 10:41pmno. way. EVER. this chick flick attempt of a movie will never make it as a musical. how do you put this to music? a song about getting a manicure? a song about how blonde you are that you don't know what to do with yourself, so you have to go to law school? a song about the "bend and snap"? i mean, cmon people! i thought the movie was okay, but i don't think it has the fan base to do well as a musical.

Posted: 11/13/04 at 2:04pmI'd defintely heard that Cheno was offered Elle @ one point, but said no. I personally think she's a little old for the role.

I think that we don't need so many musicals from movies. There are so other threads about it...

And I think that Broadways should be creative. Isn't that one of the greatest parts of Broadway? Coming to see amazing stars on stage in a musical we've heard about, or is a legend. Already there is LOTR (which I love), Little Women, and Wicked (From Wizard of Oz)... I know there not all from movies... but I think that we shouldn't overload on broadways from other places.

I agree with Kangaroo. While I don't see anything wrong with movies turned into Broadway shows, I wouldn't like to see everything become that.
As for Legally Blonde, I enjoyed the movie, but it won't work as a Broadway musical.

Posted: 11/13/04 at 10:41pmDespite her age, I think her voice and overall look definitely suits the role, if this was brought to Broadway. Laura Bell Bundy would also be a good choice.

I heard it through the grapevine that Laura Bell Bundy moved to LA. I'm not really familiar with the way this industry works, but does that mean she is not interested in Broadway anymore? That is kind of the way I intepreted it, but of course I could be wrong...if anyone has any idea what her future plans are please let me know.
Thanks,

I think LBB is out in LA pitching a television show.
As for Legally Blonde, I think it could work, if well written.
