The great Richard Foreman has died at 87.
Foreman only worked on Broadway twice, most notably the now-legendary NY Shakespeare Festival production of THE THREEPENNY OPERA starring Raul Julia. Known as a director, playwright, designer, and performer/personality in the downtown theatre world, he was the founder of the Ontological-Hysteric Theater.
His most recent play, “Suppose Beautiful Madeline Harvey,” ran off-Broadway in December and Ben Brantley did a piece about it -- and him -- a few weeks ago.
