I was there at yesterday's matinee too, and as a long time Lennon fan, was a bit skeptical, but came away loving the show very much. It was a musical biography of a very fascinating person, a bit political, a bit funny (the India scene!), and of course tragic at the end.
I like the way it was done, with lots of performers portraying John Lennon, but he was a very complex person to begin with.
The ensemble was terrific, and we bought a poster and had it signed by 8 of 9, missing TM, bummer! I liked him as David Frost (I remember watching it on tv way back when) The Ed Sullivan scene, a nice twist too. Don't want to give away too much.
Hopefully, this will be the sleeper hit of the year, from the reaction of yesterday's audience, it may well be.
"I said England. Ohh!"
