Les Miserables- Should I See It?

Okay, is the the tour any good? I live near the Twin Cities, and it's marketed as the "Final Engagement." I don't want to waste $65 on something I won't like. Also, is it appropriate for my cousin, who's 8? Thanks in advance!

The tour is fantastic.

Depends how mature your cousin is. There are kids IN the show who are that age, but, of course, there are audience members two or three times that age who won't appreciate it. It IS a long show, and you can't escape that element, no matter how good the cast is.

Les Miserables was the first Broadway show I saw. I was eight when I originally saw it and although I remember liking the music, I honestly had no clue what was going on for most of the show. A couple of years later, my mom and I went over the story one bit at a time and I understood it. We actually ended up seeing it again. While I think it's "appropriate" for eight-year-olds (i.e. there isn't blatant sexual innuendo or anything, other than a scene with prostitutes which would likely go over a kid's head anyway), I highly doubt he or she is going to understand it without some prior knowledge of the storyline.

That said, I'd definitely recommend the show. It's beautiful... yeah, it's old, but it's really a masterpiece and I can't find too many people who absolutely loathe this show. I still listen to the OBCR.

My first Broadway show, which was ANNIE...my dad paid $21 for an orchestra seat...That's hard to believe.

i watched something i got from the library from the OBC singing it on video and the music was really good but it was very long. I would deff. see it

It is a very long musical, but as long as you know that going in and that doesn't bother you, I recommend that you see it.

The story is timeless and in my personal opinion it is the quintessential piece of modern theatre.

It truly is amazing. I might recommend that you familiarize yourself with the music in order to make a more informed decision. You can have 100 of us tell you it's great, but if you don't like the music it's irrelevant.

If your taste in musicals is typical the pop/rock stuff like Rent and Tick, Tick Boom and you tend to dislike the more classical sounding shows than Les Mis might not be for you. I think we could make better suggestions if we knew what your favorites are.

Are you a fan of Miss Saigon? Les Mis and Miss Saigon have the same composers and share some musical elements.

No, I'm not familiar with Miss Saigon. But, I do like Phantom of the Opera. Is that anything like it?

If you don't mind hearing the same song for over two and a half hours then go and see it. The music and staging is boring, and the Box and Cart version that is the tour offers nothing visually exceptional. However, hearing two of the better performers in North America today is worth the ticket price alone. Randal Keith and Joan Amellida are both fantastic, and are the reason I would jump at the chance to see this tour. Unfortunatly there are no other standouts in the cast, but these two performers make up for everyother casts members deficiencies. The ensemble is good as well. See it.

You definetely have to see it ! Les Mis is one of the most popular musicals in the world and in my opinion, it is one of those shows that you can't afford to miss, if you want to be called a musical fan ! And if you liked Phantom, you will LOVE it. It's a unique, emotional, grand and magical show !

I saw the Tour earlier this year here in Houston and the entire cast was amazing. It has become one of my favorite shows.

Les Mis is my all time favorite and is the musical that really made me interested in Broadway. I was introduced to it by a music teacher (he had the anniversary concert video) and I fell in love.

I saw the show in 2001 in Louisville and LOVED it. My bf at the time was NOT into musicals but he went with me and loved it too. I'm seeing it this year in Cincinnati, I can't wait. I wish I could have seen it more, but the theatres nearby don't have a big enough stage. The show rarely comes anywhere close to me. It was always a goal of mine to see it in New York- I was very sad when it closed.

This musical relates to everybody... those who'd do anything for their family, anyone who has ever watched the person they are in love with love someone else, anyone who has ever wanted to be a part of a revolution... basically, anyone who has ever taken a breath is represented in Les Mis.

Definately see it!

SEE IT.

The tour is always decent. And every musical theater fan should see the show at least once.

I see it every time it comes through the Twin Cities and I'll certainly be there again.
