I wanted to just give some thoughts on my return visit. I found John Owen Jones as Jean ValJean to be incredible. His singing voice is excellent and he truly pulled me in everytime he was on Stage.
My lease favorite of the night was Judy Kuhn. I have to say I did not enjoy her performance at all. I know this is going to sound weird but I really prefered Daphane.
Adam Jacobs was enthralling as ever. I did feel that Gary Beach was kind of going through the motions last night. I was not too thrilled with Max Von Essen either he did not envoke anything in me.
I thought over all it was good but the cast when I saw it in previews was much better, with the exception of Jones. He by far made the evening for me. I can not say enough good things about his performance.
Also, had a bit if a confrontation after the first act. There was a younger woman (maybe 17-18 ) in my row 4 seats in who was text messaging a lot during the first act. At intermission she had to pass me to get out and I told her that it was extremely rude to text during a show and that she needed to be considerate of others. She said to me that no one else complained and I was sitting on the end why do I care. I informed her that the shinning light from her blackberry was not just isolated to her lap and it was distracting. I told her that I would inform the usher of her disregard for the show and the patrons around her. She said fine do that and left. I did talk to the usher and he said that he already had a complaint and he would talk to her. He did talk to her. A few minutes into the second act she opened her phone and imediately had 2 flash lights on her and she never opened the phone again. Some people.

Did she beat you up afterwards?

Did she beat me up?
My partner was teasing me on the way to the train station that she was going to beat me up on the sidewalk. I think I could take her. She was probably 5' 5" 130 and I am in my 30's 6' 1" 200 lbs.
Unless she threw her blackberry at me first and hit me in the head.

Sunday, I also had a bit if a confrontation. There was a younger guy next to us in the FRONT ROW texting a lot during the first act (football scores?). [I know some of the actors noticed.]
He again had his phone light on at the very end of intermission. I asked him to kindly not do that. He told me to "chill out, don't worry about it", and he did keep the thing off through Act II.
I had a flashlight in my pocket, but I like to believe I would have belted him with it instead of flashed him.
p.s. As I said, he's younger than I am, and probably in better shape.
pps: But I'm nice looking, and he's ugly.
Why do these people even go to a show if they're not going to watch!

I agree, if you are that uninterested in the show get up and leave.
At yesterday's matinee performance there was a pretty large group of high school students on what looked like a field trip to Les Mis and since I student rushed the show I was in the rear of the orchestra which was right where they were all seated. A lot of girls had their cell phones out texting and it was extremely distracting, not to mention how annoying their constant talking and giggling was. Luckily the front row seat I usually sit in was open so I moved as soon as I could haha
This makes sad... especially since this was at LES MIZ, my all-time favorite show
