The sucky part about being Fantine (as is said Forbidden Bway) you sing one [two] song[s] then die!
Then you have to be a boy at the barricade - and that part is not even listed in the playbill under your bio ((Fantine/Bullet Buy)
Oh well!
Well, on the OFC Fantine had two solos (J'avai rêvé d'autre vie, literaly, I had dreamed of another life) and OMG kill me I foget the name of the other....
Well, the Fantine on the OFC is amazing and the original lyrcs to I dreamed a dream are amazing...
"Mais la vie a tué mes rêves
Comme un court printemps qui s'achève"
I think that's the ending, if my memory isn't failing me yet!
What a dumb spelling error in my French - it's bad enough I can't spell in my second language - but now I can't spell in my native langauge! Mon Dieu!
AHHH! Just found a second mistake!
I really need to go now lol!
Eh, as I always say: [read signature below]
And this is all my fault too. HAHA! Look what I did Tiff, now you're all stressed out because of me!! Bwahahahaha!
HAHA! I'm more stressed that PB ENT thinks I may not be a good journalist! *dramatic sob*
Okay, I'm going now. Really. NOW. Gone. Buh-bye!
Don't be a silly-willy... my comments were only an inquiry.
hmmm... I might ask Randall something like, what is the overall lesson that you try to convey through the role of Valjean? What goes through Valjean's mind when he is confronted endlessly by Javert? How should the audience feel about what they just saw on stage?
These are a bit deeper than most people would ask. But don't forget that I work with Craig Schulman,( another long time Valjean) and he often goes into all of this insight in his Les Miz workshops.
Again, make it your own... OH and don't ask more than 10 questions if you can help it. It's gets too tedious for them and you! Be sure to link your interview to BW.com for all of us to enjoy!
Poor Tiff, it'll all come out fine!
LOL. I'm just giving you a hard time PB ENT. Really.
Edit: Thanks for the tip about the 10 question max. I never thought about that before. I usually listen to what they say and prod further, but I've only got a 20 minute cap (which will likely be blown, but anyway...) so I need to keep it concise.
GO AWAY Tiff! Now, go! lol. You said you were gone and then you returned. heehee. We love having your here darling. :)
I know you do, dear. I'm gonna be gone and back soon, I swear. Then I can add more to this conversation.
*cheers Tiff on*
*waves the red flag*
I haven't left yet. Please don't hit me.
*pulls her used in the broadway version of Les Mis prop gun off the wall and aims it at Tiff* In the name of Victor Hugo, GO
Okay, okay, I swear I'm leaving for a minute. To PROVE it to you, I'm going to close this window entirely, and you'll see that I'm offline within 30 seconds of now. I swear.
Okay, a few quick questions from Act 1.
Eponine, your synopsis says "She flirts with Mariu who she's obsessed with, andthen MAriu bumps into an older Cosette and they fall in love at first sight. Then Thenardier gets into a fight with Valjean, he recognizes tht he bought Cosette and (I think) he was also a chain gain member."
You mean Mr. Thenardier remembers that Valjean was a gang member who bought Cosette?
Do Cosette and Eponine get along when they're adults? Do you mean Cosette insists that Eponine screamed to frighten the gang away?
Thenardier recognizes that Valjean is the guy he sold Cosette to and that he has a scar on his chest which shows he was in prison.
Eponine and Cosette don't really interact as adults, but Eponine has a little minute of reflection where she remembers who Cosette is and is basically thinking why couldn't I be her?
Okay thanks. Now I'm gonna read about Act 2.
Is Enjorlas a bigger role than Marius? I know it doesn't necessarily mean anything, but the actor playing Enjorlas is listed about Marius.
Marius has more stage time, a solo, and a duet (neither of which Enjolras has), but IMO an actor can do a lot more with the role of Enjolras.
Ask Randal about how the dry bread on Broadway used to cut his hands and face. And what it's like to have the man he formerly understudied as HIS current understudy.
I bet he has a lot of stories to tell you about performing Les Miz in Shanghai and Seoul, too. Randal is a WONDERFUL story teller and I can only imagine that in a press setting he would really let loose. :)
Who mentioned his "son"? Because Randal has no kids. Ivan Rutherford's son is playing Gavroche, though.
Tiff, be sure to check out this link too.
opps.. got my Valjeans mixed up. It is Rutherford's son. Strike that question Tiff. Thanks Musetta, our resident LeMiz expert!
Thanks for the link Musetta. I'm looking at their cast list, and it's not updated right? It still lists Javert as being someone other than Robert Hunt.
Interview in 1.5 hours! Gonna go watch the 10th anniversary now. I don't think I'll have time to ask too many questions in 20 minutes, unfortunately.
Nope, it's not updated. Your best bet for cast info is the site of one of Randal's current co-stars.

Tiff~ just "listen carfully" He may give you more info than you expect. It's not the quantity of questions but the quality of the conversation that makes for a good read.
God, I wish I learned to take my own medicine...some of my taped interviews have to be pared down to the core of sanity.
Have fun!!!!
Just got off the phone with Randal!
YaY!'
Howd it go?
