I saw les miserables for the 2nd time today at the matinne..Heres my review

Cast:

Jean Valjean-Alexander Gemignani
Javert- Norm Lewis
Fantine- Nikki Renee Daniels*
Eponine- Celia Kennan Bolger
Enjoras- Aaron Lazar
Marius- Adam Jacobs
Cosette- Marssa McGowan*
Thenardier- Gary Beach
Mme Thenardier- Jenny Galloway
Young Cosette-Kylie Liya Godstein
Young Eponine- Carl Rose Senenclar
Gavroche- Brian D'Addario

*- understudy

Alexander Gemignani was great. His voice, acting and felling on stage were all excellent. His deserved the standing ovation he got at the end of the curtain call

Norm Lewis...What can I say??..he was good but didn't show feeling or emotion. His singing was superb. He acting was dull. He can do great belting though.

Nikki Renee Daniels. I was really really looking foward to seeing Lea Salonga as Fantine. When I saw Les Miz the first time in Feb in was between when Daphne and Lea were leaving and coming in so Nikki was then listed as full time fantine, not an understudy. Nikki was good. If she would let herself sing and not hold her voice in she would be incrediable. She seemed afraid to sing during I dreamed a dream. She did a much better job this time around. Great acting though, she showed emotion and feeling very well.

Celia Kennan Bolger. Amazing. Her singing was great, Her acting a little weak but not terrible. WOW...she was great at "On My Own"..Catch her before she leaves Apil 24th

Aaron Lazar was Enjoras. His voice is great. Acting not so great. I think his voice would make a great Valjean, but Aaron just doesn't look like Jean Valjean. Overall he was ok.

Adam Jacobs as Marius. He got much better from when I saw him the first time. He controled his voice more and his acting was better. Nothing special but not bad

Marissa McGowan was on as Cosette. When I first saw Les Miz, I saw Ali Ewoldt as Cosette. Marissa McGowan was much better than Ali Ewoldt. Marissa'a voice, acting and chemistry with Adam Jacobs (Marius) was great. When Ali Ewoldt leaves Marissa McGowan should be promoted to full time Cosette.

Gary Beach and Jenny Galloway were great as Thenardiers. Although I couldn't really understand Mme. Thenardier that well. Gary Beach was great on stage with the acting and great singing in "Master of The House".

Young Cosette and Young Eponine were ok. Good voices. Ok acting. If they sang loulder and clearer they could be amazing.

Gavroche was great. His voice was the best out of all the kids at this performance. His acting was great also.

OVERALL I give this show a 4.5 out of 5.

The cast, sets, costumes, lightening and ensemble really are all in top form.
Hope you enjoy this review

Lea Salonga is having throat problems so, she had to call in sick.

I agree with you about almost everything although I was rather fond of Norm Lewis' acting. Javert's role doesn't call for intense emotion or feeling really untill Javert's Suicide. Sorry to hear you had an understudy for Lea. She's absolutely fabulous.
