damn! i really want to audition. yet, i want to be a stage manager when I leave college. haha.
There will be a gajillion people at this call. Not worth showing up if you're not in the union.
I'd love to be Equity, but even moreso right now. Sigh.

Exactly. I could sing the sh*t out of Marius, but i'm not equity ---- yet.

You're also really young for Marius if you were born in '86. Yeah I'm not sure how I feel about this being posted. Now there will be every person within 200 miles of NY at this call, whether they have any business being there or not.
People would've found out eventually. It's not like Equity casting calls are a big industry secret.
They post on Playbill.com too, it's already out there.
They didn't see any non-union at the most recent replacement call for the tour. Its not worth going to if you aren't union.

$1465 Minimum Per Week
I won't do it for less than $3,000 per week.
When Les Miz was running on Broadway, it's 6 month required calls were the most packed I ever attended, including Phantom. A male chorus call had something like 400 people there once. It's ridiculous and hardly worth your time. Frankly, they're likely to cast the ensemble from previous cast members as well; it's not like there won't be enough alumni available.
Since when was Gavroche "a young boy who sings very well." Everyone i saw was off key and deserved a bullet.

Javert is "ultimate “law and order” figure". So why don't they cast Sam Waterston?

Yes, it will be nuts...many will come from the books they have on former LM actors..of which MANY Les Mis alumni need the job and were good anyway. Expect the swings for instance to have already been cast. Welcome back Dave Hugo probably. I would not be surprised if MANY come from the tour.
The time will come when, like in Australia and Germany, and other places in Europe...the rights will be released, and everyone will have a fairer chance at dying on the Barricade. Miss Saigon is done everywhere now, as is Cats. And, actually some of these productions are BETTER than the Broadway ones.......
It would be nice if they cast the show from scratch. In other words, people who have never done the show before.

True. But money wise, it makes sense to bring in old people. All the costumes are there already...and for the alumni, they are in storage somewhere. The rehearsal time is not sooo long. And if they can pick a good group from the alumni, and tweak them...inspire them more and make them feel REALLY GRATEFUL that they have the job (which many have publicly said they took for granted) then it could be good production (which I have heard it is for the most part on tour). I would be really...REALLY surprised...Good surprised...but surprised...if 3 people were cast out of these calls they are having this month. But, in a perfect world..there are many alumni who based on their attitudes should not be recast.......and many people like you....who should :)
That was quick. Here I thought I would have to wait another ten years or so to see a revival. You think they're going to rework the stage show or keep it as is?
Off topic but your avatar is hillarious.
forester~ I too love the avatar! I hope you realize I was posting the casting call a bit "tongue in cheek". True, it is happening and posted publically. It is also for serious union actors as mentioned. Just FYI stuff that I found interesting.
Hey, I occassionally surf the board to see the credentials for brain surgeons, and governmental events planners. Salaries start at $150,000 + + . Doesn't hurt to dream.
PB - what do you mean by "canned"?
It would be nice to have Equity status, but for most actors, it really isn't worth it. The work is limited and may not get enough work to live. What then?
I love it that they write: will be cast interracial.
Finally, will be more interesting.
Yes, it's highly unlikely, well, probably definitely unlikely, that non-Equity actors will be seen at this call, but as is the case with all auditions, you never know if you don't show up, so if you're non-Equity and you have nothing better to do on any of the audition days, I'd give it a shot.

I should have rephrased it to mean "packaged show". So I edited my post. As Mr Mackintosh alluded to in his artcle, he will use some of the physical aspects of the tour.

Meaning this may not be a newly staged production, perhaps? Sorry for the confusion.
