"Meaning this may not be a newly staged production."
Does it still involve a turntable?

They're going to be using the tour's sets and costumes, so I would assume so.
I love it that they write: will be cast interracial.
Finally, will be more interesting.
It's been on their casting calls for years. And the show hasn't exactly been lily white at any given time since about 1997.

I wish audtions were more open, that more non-union actors would get seen and casted on Broadway(for any show)shows. I believe talent, if casting thinks a person is right and ready for the role, should be the main factor, not wherever or not someone is a member of the union.
This time I do see how it would make sense to cast people who have already been in the show, since this is a speical/limited time production. Plus it hasn't been too long since the show closed on Broadway.

Lea Salonga was Eponine in 1992.
Yes, but there was a long stretch after she left before any more notable color-blind casting happened.

do broadway stars attend these if they want a part
for instance, say michael ball wanted to audition, would he show up, or would his agent book a separate time?
I think if Michael wanted to be part of this, he would pick up the phone to Mr. Mackintosh. That call might result in a private meeting.
But yes, Broadway stars often show up at Equity auditions. Some get a feel for who all's gonna be there prior to. They're tricky as well as talented.
i think im to young...
my goal in life it to play fantine though...
Im Made to be Marius...to bad im here until college is done...then good ol' broadway!
Is it just me or do some of the character's age ranges seem a little on the young side for how they are usually cast?

In thinking about color blind casting, the next minority I could think of being casted after Lea Salonga is Shanice(who is black or whatever term you want to use), who played Eponine in 1995 I believe, only a few years after Lea.

Not from what I can tell.
