I have the highlights album and it just hit me that it sounds like Gary Morris is carbon copying Colm Wilkinson's sound. Did anyone else catch that?

I wouldn't say carbon copying, but he does sound like him once in a while. I actualy prefere Morris over Wilkinson.

I think he is a COMPLETE carbon copy of Colm: so much so that I forget it's him and pretend that it's Colm (which it should have been)

I really can't stand Gary Morris, or Fantine on that recording. However the rest is great; it's kind of sad that it's the only complete recording of Les Miz out there.

Actualy my only big complaint about this recording is Tracey Sayne as Cosette, I find her to be a bit too shrill at times, it is hard for me to picture her doing the role of christine in Phantom as well due to the shrill quality.

i saw tracey shayne in "phantom" in 1993. i don't remember anything about her performance. her "one day more" really sounds like she's straining.
however, i can remember claire moore's performance as christine in london from 1994!! go figure.

All the Fantines are awful, I find; except for Ruthie Henshall
I wish she had of been on the Complete (which, actually, isn't really that complete: because of a few deleted scenes)
Tracy's ignominious: she sounds like a chipmunk
Philip Quast was much stronger on the TAC

Tracy bugs me so much! She sound like she inhaled helium on the symphonic recording.

I like Tracy Shayne. It's Kaho Shimada I can't stand. Her vibratto drives me nuts and I just don't like her voice in general.

i have the TAC and i've only heard parts of the symphonic recording. Lea Salonga is a MUCH BETTER Eponine.
