From SF Chronicle:
"Cut to a montage of neon lights flashing, clock hands turning and coffee cups emptying: In four days, Roth, Woolverton and Taupin hammered out the story line, using "The Vampire Lestat" as the first act and "Interview With the Vampire" as the second."
Sorry all of you who are so thrilled about this musical, but honestly can you really do "The Vampire Lestat" justice in One Act, and then do "Interview" in the Second. It's too much story to tell. Anyone agree? disagree?
i think you cannot base your opinion soley on those facts, see the show for yourself and then you can comment whether that idea is efficient or not
I've seen it. It's not.
Not at least with this creative team.

Without seeing the show but having read the books and knowing the complexities of the interpersonal relationships involved in the narrative, it is obvious that one act per book CANNOT be sufficient. It sounds like the disaster of the movie of "The Queen of the Damned" that lamely tried to fit both "The Vampire Lestat" and "Queen of the Damned" into one movie. All three books not only have complex stories but also tell alot about what occurred historically for the characters and go back to the beginning to the two original Vampires, Akasha and Enkil and tell their important story, and how it relates to Lestat.

You should probably base it on the show alone, not on the source it comes from. I know i'm going to get knocked for this, so please spare me the comments, but look at Wicked. It made a great musical if you base it as a seperate entity. So give it a chance.

Why would you be knocked by the comment, I plan on giving it a chance, but Wicked simply didn't have the long histories of many major characters as does the Vampire Chronicles. Oh also, when you love the source material so much, its nearly impossible to block it out of your mind and base your opinions on the show as it is and from the three songs i've heard thus far, im not happy.
I think they need to focus on one book : Interview. Take the focus off of Lestat as much, tell the story the way it was told in the book (which was very well done), call it Interview With the Vampire, and get a different composer.
Hateobnoxiousteens, for the sake of karmic comedy, could you retitle this thread Lestat = Enough Time? It would make me laugh!
Something to keep in mind, Aida also had massive problems out of town, and it worked itself out. so dont be so quick to judge

Um, Aida had massive problems on Broadway, it was a mess without Heather Headley

Yeah, and the music of Aida sucks with or without Heather.
