If I had any money (yuk yuk) I'd pay to see Carolee Carmello read the phone book - I think she's brilliant. I wish they would extend Light In The Piazza and put her in the role of Margaret (not to take anything away from Victoria Clarke who is ALSO brilliant and will forever be my favorite Margaret) but I think Carolee would be amazing in the role also. She can truly do anything. I mean, really, if she could get me to sit through Scarlett Pimpernell without wanting to kill myself, she's obviously a gifted woman.

Any thoughts about Hugh going back to Les Mis at some point? Obviously, not as Marius, but what do you think about him as Valjean? He could certainly sing the role.
Oh, to answer a question from before, Gregg Edelman definitely played Javert on Broadway in the early to mid-90s (1992-1995, somewhere in there).

Yep, Gregg played Javert, and brilliantly too!!
But please, let's get Drew back in anything -- even Phantom. He'd managed to get me to see it again!

You know, I'm desperate to see Drew on Broadway again and I'd almost plead for him to be in anything... but really. Drew's too good to be replacing people left and right. Not that other people aren't, but Drew needs to be originating roles.
And I am anxious for whatever comes Jim Stanek's way! I really can't wait to see him back on stage and hopefully with a show that will show off his voice a hell of a lot better than Lestat did.

When I first saw DRS with Norbert, I was at the mentality that no one could ever play that role after him. But Jim Stanek is just as much of a lovable nutcase, and I think he's be freakin amazing in that role.

Posted: 5/31/06 at 5:35pmI believe Carolee and Hugh Panaro were in the first national touring company together. Hugh was Marius and Carolee was Fantine. I've never seen pics of her as Fantine though, anyone know where to find some?

I have a brochure from the time both were in the show. Carolee was never a principal in Les Miz. She had the unusual duty of understudying both Fantine and Cosette.
Hugh was Marius, though.

I have a picture of Carolee as Fantine (with Hugh as a gendarme in the background) from an old program. Sadly, my scanner isn't hooked up and won't be for days.
Hugh was my first and favorite Marius and Carolee was one of the few Fantines I remembered at all.

I was told that the Mamma Mia producers are trying to woo Carollee back for the fall, which is why they gave Leah Hocking such a short contract.
