I think what you guys in the South had yesterday has just come up North this afternoon.

There wasn't much snow around this morning but it's coming down thick and fast now. I haven't seen it this deep for years. Maybe climate change has stopped!

And I love that London Transport had to send a taxi for PoL.

Irony upon irony.
BA today cancelled al there flights etc etc etc.
I flew to New York last March (out of T5 no less) and on my return flight they lost my suitcase!
At 3pm this afternoon I got a call off a very apologetic lady to tell me they had my case and did I want it sent to me? LOL I said yes but what with the weather and utter chaos at LHR did she think it would be another 10 months until i get It! 'You'll have it tonight sir'
It arrived an hour ago by private taxi!

In general, Opera North's standards are very high - I've seen a lot of their stuff over the years. They've given me the opportunity to see a number of obscure-musicals-with-interesting-scores that I wouldn't have seen otherwise, whilst I've been with opera-loving friends to see traditional operas. Their production of Sweeney Todd was one of the best I've seen since the OLC.

All that snow sounds like heaven to me. Here (in Melbourne) we are in the middle of a heat wave. Last week we had 4 consecutive days of temperatures in the 40's, one day it got to 45.4C. We had a coold change but all that did was bring temperatures down to the 30's! We too have had train cancellations - but for a totally different reason - the train lines were buckling in the heat.

I was looking at the Broadway Grosses for last week today and wondered if Broadway was shut down because of snow conditions like most of West End was today; it could possibly spell the beginning of the end for some of those shows.

Del-Mac are saying announcements will come at lunchtime re: their productions tonight. Most trains appear to be running, albeit with delays and most buses are up as well.

I don't know about other areas of the capital, but things look better if not great in mine: it's warm enough that there's a bit of melt, but at the same time it's very obvious that the footpaths and streets are largely iced over with a fair bit of snow still compacted underneath. While I'm used to this sort of thing from hellish American winters, it doesn't mean that I particularly enjoy it, and wonder how bad it's going to be getting to Tesco's today, given that it requires going down likely untreated steps to take an underpass below the M1.

That's alright Scripps, down south thats all thats left, just ice and masses of it, we'll have our snow back though!

I had my second driving lesson today on all the ice and slush, was bloody scary!! but i survived, and did better than last week...
