Just thought I'd fill you in on the Lovepigeon's snow days.
After a f*cking disastrous weekend, you'd have thought snow days would be right up my street. Woah no. I had been waiting for a bus at 6:45... my boss texted me to tell me to go home at 8 because he'd seen on the news that there were no buses. I was freezing and pissed off. I went completely stir crazy in my flat, talking to my fish and watching random sections of my Frida DVD for over three hours (I urge anyone to youtube her singing Fire and Ice... f*cking awesome).
Yesterday was better but it had to get worse first. Once again I was at the bus stop at 6:45, only to be told by some train guy that the buses weren't running. Who are you, I think to myself, the transport police? Piss off. Sure enough, the buses were once again suspended. There was, however, a limited bus service between the train station and a few backwater villages. As my mum's school was closed, I decided to take this bus to her house so I could take Poppy for a run up to Cowdray Castle (she looks so bloody cute in the snow) and get down to some work on the swish computer. Lovely. Alas, no. Get to my mum's village... it's like f*cking Bermuda, with no snow at all. It seems that although her school itself was unaffected by snow, only the twenty kids who live nearby who aren't too povo to pay the extortionate fees turned up. That was mine and Poppy's snow walk pissed on then. Also, my mum's computer spazzed out as soon as I opened Firefox so I couldn't do any work (or get on BWW) either.
Here's where it gets better. My mother, having somehow acquired a load of lamb, decided to make some kind of casserole with red wine and vegetables, turning the kitchen into some kind of bizarre factory. The idea was to put them in foil containers to freeze for when she can't be bothered to cook or if she gets in late from a conference. F*ck that, we decided. We ate them all, accompanied by the wine she hadn't used and loads of ciggies (goodbye New Year's resolution), curled up on the sofa watching Big Girls Blouse. I ended up getting a taxi home, full and merry with purple teeth and a hacking cough.
