Well, I think the plan--at least as far as I know--was to find out when the Aids walk is and try to plan around that. Am I right?

If it's in the Spring, I promise to try my very best to come--UNLESS the word comes down that Michael Ball is coming at a sooner or later time. Then I'll be there when he is.

If I may suggest, someone should take the lead in planning.
It may take a bit of effort, but then decisions will be made and like any party or gathering, a date is set by the "host" and people will RSVP.
Then we can start an e-mail correspondance and take it from there.
Not everyone will be able to join in, but hopefully if they want to badly, they can rearrange their schedules.
One reason I think this hasn't worked in the past was because people were trying to find dates that suited everyone, which will never work...
Any volunteers? I'd be happy to, but I'm 2 hours outside of NYC, which is not an issue, but in terms of places to dine, people to invite (as PB suggested) I have few NYC connections.
Let's get the ball rolling!

It's a good idea by me, and would be glad to put up a poll, rsvp or whatever's necessary on the site if someone wants to take the lead in planning it.

I will be in NY the first week of January...so that would be fabulous! But pick a night soon, as I'm filling up my show slots!

But I do really expect y'all to choose Spring, and I don't blame you a bit....January is a dumb time to come to NY and this will be the second year in a row.....dumb....

Suggestion--and only a suggestion--January 16th is a very special day for theater-goers. It will be the 40th anniversary of TWHM and I feel it's a day well worth celebrating. So how about that night? It's a Friday.

I might also suggest that we hold our get-together at Barrymore's. The prices are reasonable, it's right in the theater district, the waiters are theater savvy and we could probably take over the back room.

Again, this is only a suggestion.

When HELLO, DOLLY! first opened, producer David Merrick touted it as "New York's Happiest Musical", then as touring companies opened all over the world--including Viet Nam, he changed the slogan to "The World's Happiest Musical", hence: TWHM (soon to be my license plate number!)

But I do have a car and a license. Me and Elphie will sneak out just to come see the BroadwayWorld.com people!

How about something more cas than having to book a room then? I'd say hey, let's meet at xyz bar on 1/16 and whoever comes comes, and whoever can't can come in the spring (or whenever). But I'm not too sure how young this board goes and how feasible that is.

If Barrymore's (or where ever) is booked - surely there's some lower key restaurant which could accomodate? It may not be in the best locale, so we have to decide if we want to place priority on location or ease of booking.

I haven't ever really planned a large event before - is there something we're missing other than location and people?
