Letterman: Color Purple

Did anyone happen to catch the performance by the cast of The Color Purple on Letterman tonight (Friday, December 30th ~ Midnight). They sang "Push Da Button" and it was fun.

I'm not familiar with the movie, musical, actors, nor characters. However, is the thin "celebrity-ish" woman who sings "Push Da Button" the same character that kissed the Whoopi Goldberg character in Spielberg's film?

Didn't catch it on Letterman, but saw it on Oprah. It just looks like an amazing night at the theater. Hope it runs long enough for me to see it.
