I agree 100% and I had heard that they were going to if she(Dame Maggie) did "Sister Act 2", which she did, but still no "Lettice & Lovage". The same thing happened when Faye Dunaway was supposed to shoot "Master Class" - oblivion.
I think they should still do it with Dames Maggie & Judi!

Posted: 1/2/06 at 9:15pmThey should film it. It would make a great movie. I loved every moment of it. I forget, did Maggie win the Tony?

Posted: 1/2/06 at 9:21pmYes, she did. Margaret Tyzack also won for Best Featured Actress. It lost Best Play to The Grapes of Wrath, though.

Loved it and loved Maggie Tyzack in I CLAUDIUS.
There was one point in ACT II where Dame Maggie might as well have been Lucy in her heyday.

Posted: 1/2/06 at 11:33pmOne of my treasured theater memories. Maggie Smith was brilliant. Great idea Jimmie Rae to have Dame Judi Dench play the Margaret Tyzack role in the movie. That woman can do no wrong in my book. Can't wait to see MRS. HENDERSON PRESENTS.

Posted: 1/2/06 at 11:57pmThanks Rose. I can just see them working that as a film together very well, they both have such great senses of humor and are just wonderful, one wonders why this hasn't happened yet. Hollywood seems to much on the "What 60's TV Show can we remake as a Film?" right now and since they are all bombing, you would think they would get the hint. I saw tonight they are remaking "The Posiedon Adventure" which, when I was a kid, I saw almost 50 times in the Cinema - I recall meeting Roddy MacDowall (I had a HUGE crush on him!) and telling him that (I was only 14 or so!) and he said how awful for me, He was in it and could barely watch it once. LOL! Anyway, My point is why remake it if it was done well, and it was very well done I think. On to new projects, oh yes, The spies are telling me now they are going to film "Sunset Blvd" with Miss Close - and I hate to say it but that sounds dreadful.

"The Friskies and Whiskas of affliction"
It was a pretty wonderful evening, and both ladies were marvelous... as was the cat. Still, probably too theatrical (and too British) a piece to become a mainstream Hollywood success, no?

Posted: 1/3/06 at 1:54amMost likely, But it was sooo wonderful. Too bad the movie folks in the middlewest seem to be the ones Hollywood gears to, If it's over their heads, it's usually out. I love the BBC telly and it has made me happy since I was a kid watching "Elizabeth R". I still have my Ab-Fab dvds too (I also broke down and bought Elizabeth R on DVD - I had to see it again!)
