'The Worlds Most Outrageous Showman' is how ultra flamboyant pianist Liberace was billed when ever he played round the world.
His stage shows feature incredibly grand sets that culminated in a grande finale with the entire stage turning into a vast pool with stunning 50ft fountains billed as The Waltzing Waters'!
He usually had a grand entrance prepared for each production. When I saw his last London show at the London Palladium in 1978 a gold platted Rolls Royce was driven onto the stage and went around on the famous Palladium revolve. Everyone was expecting him to step out of the car but no, after a few moments he was flown in from the flies wearing a huge fur coat worth $2M in 1978!
One of the famous flying coats!
The over the top Liberace and one of his Vegas entrances.

Forward to 2009.....
After a successful season at the Jermyn St Theatre 2 years ago with 'Liberace's Suite', Liberace returns to London once more.
Well, Liberace died in 1987 so Britain's answer to him, Bobby Crush, is bringing him to Leicester Square this winter.
'Liberce- Live From Heaven' opens at the new Leicester Square Theatre on October 13th for a short season.
Im not sure how the Vegas style sets will be recreated for a 60 seat fringe venue- but we can at least guarantee that we'll get an outrageously over the top performance from Mr Crush.
