He refuses to close the show, he wants to make a cast album, AND he's gonna sue ELissa Gardner for a comment she made exiting the theatre after seeing the show. Good times, indeed.

This sort of brings up an interesting point. Do producers ever consider the actors?
Suppose only five people show up one night and the actors have to play to an empty house. (Ever seen Patti LuPone's concert where she talks about The Baker's Wife in Washington D.C?) It's difficult to play a huge theater with nobody in it.
I don't think Brooks cares much about anything other than keeping his ego afloat.

so then I should not be waiting with baited breath for the cast album then?
who knows, I think at this point its safe to say that we can expect anything from Joe Brooks
I wonder what Elissa Gardner said that is unprintable...
It is also a lesson in how many people threaten to sue but after talking to thier Brother-in-law...er...I mean Lawyer, they are told that they are crazy to want to sue someone for teasing them on a message board...er...I mean, saying something bad about a show.
Would he even have grounds to sue her based on something she said that was overheard? What was he going to charge her with? Slander?
Brooks doesn't need much help defaming his character. Maybe he should sue himself.
I wish the theatre owner's would exercise the clause which allows them to kick out the tenant if the grosses are below a certain level.

Joe Brooks could make a fortune if he sued everyone who made a negative comment upon leaving the theater. My companion's words were "We'll be talking about this shows for years to come!". I'm sure others have been much worse.
But Dollypop, I am sure Brooks would take that as a compliment.
HAHA- thats so funny! that makes my day- that man is insane!
i just have to think that this man is out of his mind...
but good lord if he sure is passionate about the show....and perhaps about his cast as well.
most producers would just pull the plug and that;s that but he is sure keeping the soup on the stove for as long as he can.
i do wonder just WHAT he is trying to get E. Gardner for. Defamation of Character? He would have to have some cold hard proof to show that something she said was a direct result of the show not selling or if it has affected his personal life...i think this will turn out to be a big ol costly mess,
d
I think he and Suzanne Somers should file a joint lawsuit.
On what? "The Blonde in the Lemon"?
Carolee fan that's very funny but also redundant!!
Exactly!
A part of me wishes that if Joe Brooks were so interested in financing quality new Broadway musicals and getting them in theatres that he would use his obviously huge fortune to fund someone else's far superior show. Of course, that would be way too much to ask.
I don't understand how he can twist negative reviews into positive ones without the public catching on. Those really can't all be clueless tourists filling up those seats.
I just feel kind of bad for the actors in the show. I wonder how they must feel to be in something that thousands of people think should've ended weeks ago.
I still maintain, however, that it would be pretty awesome to dance onstage with a skeleton.
